Thumbs up It's Promotion time again!

Keep in mind that Rogers is once again offering the first 2 months free for the TMN/HBO channels, MPix channels, Super Channel(s) and Playboy TV.

So, if you like what you see from the TMN On Demand Free Preview, or want to sample other programming not available there, call Rogers and ask for the freebies. Even if you got all of those channels for free the last time the special was on, you should be able to get them again (I didn't bother getting Playboy, but got the others).

Warning: Don't blame me if you get hooked on some of the programming and end up having a higher cable bill (I got hooked on the Super Channel TV series content and thus ended up keeping it for many months beyond the 2 month free period).

Reminder: To get the best value (full 2 months Free), it's often best to order the channels just a few days before your billing date (I ordered a few days past mine, but no big deal), in case you want to cancel some (or all) of the channels before your 2 month billing date approaches (to avoid being charged up until your next billing date).

If you cancel beyond your billing date, Rogers has the right to bill you up to your next billing date, from the day after your 2 month freebies ended (although once in a while, you'll get lucky and not be billed beyond your cancellation date, even though you cancelled AFTER your billing date -- just don't risk it, because it's not that common -- the computer is programmed to work against you).

Unconditionally?

I thought you had to sign up for a year or some sort to get those deals?

Thumbs up The promotions are "virtually" unconditional!

Warning: Keeping things simple is not my strong suit, so brace yourself for the "wall of words:"

I know it sounds too good to be true, but some good things in life are actually FREE.

However, the Only "condition" you might run into, is this one: If for some odd reason, you try to cancel BEFORE the end of the FIRST FREE month, the CSR will ask you to at least keep and sample the freebies for 30 days (I assume that's because that's how the computer is programmed) and then if you call back at least 1 day AFTER that first 1 month FREE period, they can set up the computer to automatically cancel the freebies (so it's still entirely FREE for you), just BEFORE your last billing date during that 2nd free month -- or closer towards the end of the full 2 free months, or even beyond it (as long as you don't mind waiting until the following month to receive your credit for any of the days of your billing period that you no longer subscribed to any of the channels that you were sampling, but still got billed for because you went past your billing period before deciding to cancel), so that you still won't pay a cent for your promotional deal(s) during the 2 month period.

Once again, in case I'm still not making enough sense: Even if you decide to stay with one (or more) of the freebies PAST your billing date (during the 2nd free month), so that you can still take advantage of the full 2 months free (assuming that your billing date is BEFORE the end of your full 2 month freebie period), and then decide to cancel the day BEFORE the end of the 2 month promotion(s), you'll generally be charged for the full 30 days of your billing period, but then the following month, Rogers will credit your account for the unused days (after you cancelled the channels) of your billing period because the system is pro-rated (just not immediately - that's why I often like to cancel before my billing date, even if my full 2 free months aren't used up yet).

So, yes, these deals are too good to pass up (unless you're afraid that you might get hooked on various TV shows because you know that you won't want to wait for the DVD/Blu-ray releases to find out what happened to some of your favourite characters).

Quite often, even if you were to call Rogers about something else, the CSRs might eventually tell you about several of the promotions that Rogers has going on. Some will be about things you're not interested in, but if you stear the conversation around to what you ARE interested in, that's when they often throw the really good stuff at you (I was being told about cell phone and high-speed Internet plans that I wasn't interested in, but then got the TMN (etc.) deals offered to me once the CSR realized he was wasting his time trying to get me to go mobile or sign-up for high-speed Internet service).

In fact, as I already mentioned above, if you wait at least a month after your special(s) have started, you can usually call Rogers and have them set the computer up to automatically cancel your freebies just BEFORE your final billing date (while you're enjoying the freebies), and you'll also probably be given a reference # to prove that you asked to have the services automatically cancelled in case the computer screws something up (plus, you can always change your mind and then call back to re-order any cancelled service that you want continued). I tried the automatic cancellations several times and they successfully worked each and every time. Some people experience a few problems or incorrect billing situations, but a quick call (or several calls if the problems persist) to Rogers will usually correct any errors, hopefully painlessly.

Extra Note: You should also be able to order the freebies from Rogers.com (just click the Promotions link that appears when you hover your mouse over the TV heading, located at the top of the Rogers website). Just make sure you know what your billing date is, so that you have the necessary knowledge for a totally-FREE viewing experience (without having to wait a month for Rogers to credit your account for any unused days of your billing period).

Smile More Free Previews

TV5 (SD and HD): Feb. 24 until April 27, 2012

NOTE: Although I get TV5 included as part of my basic digital package (and according to Rogers.com, it's supposed to be that way for most people in my area), there are still some folks that don't have it as a freebie ... but now even those folks will get it free (until at least April 27).

-----------------

TVA Sports (SD=656 and HD=657): Free right now ... until April 25, 2012

---------------------

W Movies (SD=326; HD channel is also available): March 1 to April 2

Note: Surprisingly, this channel also shows movies that begin with other letters of the alphabet, other than W. Apparently, the W stands for Women. If that's the case, I certainly won't hold my breath waiting for Wild, Wild West to appear.

-------------------

Juicebox (SD=707): March 1 until April 10

If you like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato and have Bieber Fever ... this music channel aimed at kids and pre-teens is for you. Blocks of programming also air on other music channels, as well as on CTV affiliates (for example: try Saturdays from 6am to 8am on CTV Toronto, etc.).

---------------------

Fight Network (SD=427): March 1 to April 2

Bob and Weave will be watching, but I'd rather punch a wall.

----------------------

World Fishing Network (SD=426; HD channel is also available): March 1 until April 2

It's like The Aquarium Channel, but now you also get to see men holding fishing rods. Unfortunately, there are still no plans to air the TV series gems: Fish and CHiPs.

I just got an email stating that Super Channel is free between April 7-21 on channel 100 (ROD). Rogers website doesn't have this listed on the free preview listing.

Went there. They only have about 10 programmes under the SC Freeview? I don't go into ROD much. Am I missing something?

Thumbs down Slim pickings for now

It's a scarce lineup of freebies that will hopefully improve (perhaps new content will be added each Monday).

The first episodes of Boss and Magic City are the highlights (channel 100).

The TMN/HBO Canada Freeview had more to offer.

Rogers is offering 25% off Super Channel (for up to a year, or for full year?), or I still think you might be able to get it free for 2 months if you ask (and are not a current subscriber).

Lightbulb FX Canada Update/Correction

FX Canada free preview now updated to last until April 30th.

Extra Note: I like the timing of the National Geographic Channel free preview ... which coincides with Shaw's new Nat Geo Wild channel (now CRTC approved) that might pop up sooner rather than later. Is an April 30th launch date too soon? Perhaps, but I know some very talented Canadian raccoon(s) that are looking for work.

Question

I dought will see Nat GEO wild any time soon.

Hech we still don't have

Space HD & Discory Channel HD which both have been stated by Rogers they are schedule to appear.

As for the others
BNN
Bravo
The Hollywoiod 4
ABC Spark

an't nowhere to be seen.
You've got a better chance of seeing astronauts break dancing on Mars then seeing NAT GEO WILD or the others on Rogers.

Rogers what abunch of CHANGOs . Only 7 months left and bye-bye Mr Rogers neighbourhood.

A Rogers CSR has informed me that once CNNi is out of Free Preview, it will only be available as part of the News Package. You can't sub to it a la carte.

Nat Geo Wild is in free preview on ch296 until Sept 4. It's in HD on the enabled stb, SD on the non-hd boxes. Curiously it's not mapped up with the other HD channels in the 500 range (so far).

Any word if RDS/RDS2 will be opened up in free preview during the London Olympics as they were during the Vancouver Olympics?
