Newer boxes have a slightly different IPG that does color code based on if you have the channel. I assume everyone will eventually get that.

I had a quick look at the IPG hoping that the colour coding scheme which identifies subscribed channels would be of some use. However, I don't get what they are trying to accomplish ... I just pressed OK and was out of that menu and did not see any colour ...
Which HD PVR has the colour-coded IPG implementation for subscribed channels? |

Andrew, as mentioned by "cbernard" in post #539 above, it seems (so far) that colour coding applies only within the "Quick Start" guide (not the regular guide), and only to some item(s) like the "Get More TV" for ordering.

Thanks Jlet, so the colour scheme implementation in the QSG is rather useless. Wonder if they will finally listen to the customers and upgrade the IPG to identify subscribed channels, sooner or later they will have to..

And the colour coding is inaccurate. I tried to select HDNET which was in the non subscribed channel colour, and it said that I was not subscribed. But guess what, I do have a subscription to that channel and can tune to it directly.
Seem the left hand does not what the right hand is doing. |

Several channels (Discovery World, HDNet, Timeshift Seattle, etc) are currently on free preview, as indicated in the IPG and can be seen even if you're not subscribed.

Previously, we had been given the option in the Quick Start menu, to change the order, so the program grid came up instead of the Quick Start menu ... and then you pressed the Guide button a second time to get the other.
I was checking the settings the other day, and there seemed to be a third option. Someting about the FAV button I thought. Anyway I selected it ... and now I can't get up the Quick Start menu no matter what I do. And I'm not even sure what the menu option about changing it said, as I can't get into the Quick Start menu to change it again (I have no idea why that setting wouldn't be with the rest of the PVR settings). Anyone know what I did? Or can see what the menu choices were on the setting I changed? |

I'm always paranoid about restarting the box unnecessariliy, with the extra HD. I'll let it happen sooner or later.
But what IS that third option supposed to be about? |

That's what I thought would happen with the half-second I thought about it before I selected that option (pressing FAV would bring up the Quick Start menu).
Oh well, perhaps better deactivated. When it was there and you were recording two things and you pressed the Guide button a couple of times, you were locked out of your program schedule until you stopped recording something ... which was very annoying. |
