Modulated output receivers with Diplexers

Another thing of interest to owners of the modulated output receivers (3200, 5200, 9200, 9242) is using diplexers to allow less cabling. Diplexers are needed in pairs and allow the high frequency satellite signals to piggy back on low frequency signals like UHF/VHF, CATV and ATSC. Below are some examples of how it can be done.

This is using a DPP twin, DPP separator and 2 diplexers.

This uses DP(P) lnb, a DPP44 switch and 2 diplexers for one dual receiver.

This uses DP(P) lnb, a DPP44 switch and 4 diplexers for 2 dual receivers. The diagram shown is showing the output from each dual receiver going to specific splitters. It makes a lot more sense if you join the output of both outputs and then use a splitter or amplified splitter. This will allow you to watch from either receiver on all TV's. Just be sure to have different channels set for each modulate output on the receiver.

Would any of these approaches work with an older SW44 and 2x9242 ?

Yup, it's basically the same idea, except that you'd have 4 lines from the dish to SW44, and 2 lines to each receiver. Although, if it were me I'd switch to a DPP Twin, using one line to each receiver, and since you already have a 2nd unused line at each receiver you could just use that line rather than having to use diplexers.

Both my 9242s have 3 lines going to them from the utility junction. I also have basic cable as part of my internet that I have never used. I was hoping with the diplexers I could hijack one of those lines to get cable to the boxes.

Once back at the the utility junction I was hoping to combine the 2 uhf/vhf returns from 9242 through the other tvs in the house using the single lines from the junction (ie. bedrooms 1-4 & office) I was guessing I could combine the 2 uhf/vhf singnals using a basic splitter in reverse.

I saw an interesting piece of DPP equipment at a friends place in Buffalo the other day. It was a DPP Tri-plexer. It was a diplexer and a DPP seperator built into one housing. I don't know if Bell uses them or not, but it might make the wiring diagrams in the above messages a bit neater.

Maybe I should think about getting back into doing Bell installs as a pro again ( I used to work for Express Serv), instead of doing them on the side. It looks like some real interesting things can be done with DPP equipment.

Interesting. Although with few 9242s and no 9200s to install these days it's very rare to even use a diplexer for much these days, so I don't see Bell wasting the money to have a supply of these unless they release another 2+ TV receiver someday.
