Default MTS Channel Changes June 26, 2012

The change will take effect between midnight and 7 a.m. During that time, you will not be able to make changes to your TV packages online or use MyPVR to set recordings.

Some of the channel numbers are changing to group them into themes. HD versions of channels will be moving to the 1000 channel block so they will mirror the SD channel numbers. MTS Lobby Camera is changing to channel 95.

Ultimate Channel Changes

Classic Channel Changes

If your parental controls are set by Channel Number, you will need to update your settings to reflect the new channel number (channels that are not changing will not be affected). Parental Controls set by Movie Ratings, TV Ratings, or by Time do not need to be updated.

If you used MyRemote (A, B, or C buttons) to tune to a channel, then you have to re-customize the button if the channel has moved.

Ultimate FAQ.

Classic FAQ.

According the FAQ for Classic TV ONLY, scheduled VCR recordings, auto tune and hidden channels will be affected for those channel numbers that have changed. You may have to re-customize your guide.

Please use the New Channels thread to discuss new channels being added June 26.

I don't understand why they are splitting up TSN and TSN2 (HD), they are in the same basic package but are going to be several channels apart in the guide...

Alot of other changes do look logical. Like grouping MCHD channels togeather.

They are setting it up so that the SD and HD channels use the same numbers essentially. Makes it easier to remember I suppose.

Interesting that with all these changes their line up is still slightly mixed up. They still have Global Reality mixed with the Super package, CP24 still with the news channels, and Comedy Gold with the Movie Picks channels. Was this some kind of oversight? Surely this would be the perfect time to move those channels so they are in the correct package? And why they are moving Grace TV I don't understand either, not that it affects me.

Not entirely pleased with these changes, as it makes scrolling to the HD listings in the menu take forever, since you have go past all the 600 series music and 700 series radio stations. I guess you could customize the menu and delete all the music and radio station listings, but then, you can't find them if you want to listen to something. I suppose I could scroll backwards past 1 to get the the 1000's listings. Bit of a pain.

Also, FX HD seems to be blacked out even though I get FX SD and had FX HD picture yesterday.

No need to keep the Galaxie stations in the channel guide, just use channel 60 to surf through all the audio channels in one place with album art and artist info.

I removed the 600 and 700 channels over a year ago, and have never missed them.

Personally I like the idea of having the same basic number for both HD and SD.

tofurkey, I haven't tried it, but I think you could type 999 into the guide and that would take you to the beginning of the HD channels. You could probably program one of the A B C buttons to go to a specific channel in the guide as described in this thread:

Never used Channel 60/600 before, thanks for the tip SomeRandomGuy. Don't see any album art though, just song titles in a red box to the right side of the screen. Can delete all the 600's from my guide now.

Still need the 700's in the guide if you want to find a radio station to listen to though.

And another good idea Dr. Dave, typing 999 in the guide does indeed take you right to the HD listings. Nice.

Thanks to both for the good ideas.

The change went pretty smooth for me. WPIX and FX were not turned on for the HD some side but a quick call resolved that.

As for the 700 music channels, you could greatly reduce the number while still keeping the ones you would occasional listen to.

Also the entering a channel number to jump works with the picture in picture browser.

I'm not a fan of channels in the 1000 series. It would be nice to have a menu option that would map over the SD channel with the HD ones that you sub to in the guide. I don't imagine it would be that hard to implement.

tofurky,

I am guessing you don't have MTS Internet, as it sounds like you have the old version of the Galaxie App. if you have Internet with MTS, you get an advanced version of the app.

still you are correct radio stations are not included in the app - although that would be cool.

tofurkey, is it possible you have "Lite"? I think Lightning is the minimum requirement for the apps that transfer significant amounts of data.
