@Pinza---> One off question: Could he also ask for DPP Twin if he wanted and then get DPP44's as needed (saying the customer had a DPP44 for instance) or whats on the work order must be followed in this case. Just curious as its not a question that comes up often

So, If I have all my rg6 terminating at the electrical panel and my distance is over 150 feet from the electrical panel (not counting the run from the dish) on some runs that would work without a switch?
Or will I have to purchase a dpp44 myself to put at the electrical panel due to wiring length, etc. my understanding is that putting the switch at the panel with power inserter resets the distance from dish RG6 length. |

@m3repair, Bell are cracking down on Techs using DPP44's with a DPP Twin, when checking Audit pictures and customer accounts they get upset at that configuration.
@Zekes, a DPP Quad will feed all 3 of your receivers directly no need for a switch. 200' is not an issue. |

@Pinza----> I am asking for the forum, can you give clarification as to why the DPP44 shouldn't be used with a DPP Twin LNBF. (What bells reasons is behind that stand point?)

Pretty sure it was covered in the DPP thread but no problems.
1 or 2 Receivers = DPP Twin 3 or 4 Receivers = DPP Quad 5 or 6 Receivers = DPP Quad plus DPP44 Maximum number of receivers on an account is 6, the DPP Quad & DPP44 gives 6 feeds. Bells' reasoning, is that there is no scenario where a Twin should be used to feed the DPP44 as there is a Quad LNBF available, therefore a substantial cost saving occurs. I am not saying I agree with Bell, as I am sure I would add a DPP44 to 2 lines from a DPP Twin before I took a ladder off a Truck in pouring rain or high winds to swap out an LNBF and run another line down the outside of the house. |

I totally agree with Pinza. It may cost more to use the DPP Twin and DPP44, but if it takes a fraction of the time to simply install a switch in the house as it does to get the ladder, swap out the LNB and run the extra line or two, the techs can complete more jobs in the run of a day, which in the end means more money in Bell's pocket.

Thanks for the clarification guys, I also agree that it is a shame, but if thats what they want as per procedure, unfortunately it must be done. (Unless of course the customer does it themselves after-wards hehehe

Making the installation look as clean as possible should be just as important, and I don't think Bell would disagree. Especially since it would be a factor if a customer decides to proceed with the installation. If I had two cables prewired to a dish location on a brand new house, I'd expect two DPP44's to feed six receivers at the panel.
A BTS tech told me that Bell is giving them upto six hours per house, to fish any cat for iptv/fibe and go beyond the standard exterior clipping, especially on high value homes. If they're really going to this extreme to provide a extra professional install, I don't see an issue with an extra switch for Bell TV (in the rare occasion).

Do not confuse Fibe/iPTV with Bell TV satellite installations, they are very different animals.

It might be for a Tech but not for Bell TV, otherwise adding a pair of DPP44's would be the norm, not as it is now a punishable offence ......

Fishing lines through walls is a pain in the ass, especially with only one person. I couldn't imagine having to do it all day long.

For what I understand: The end user can make his own changes as he or she pleases so it isn't much of a concern there. As for installers, they are unable to install a DPP Twin with a DPP44/ DPP44 (2X) because Bell has not approved this method (Why I am not sure still, I am assuming cost of DPP44 perhaps?) but it is something that currently is not allowed and really isn't all that great in terms of punishment if discovered to the installer / tech
