Finding my PN58A650 a little annoying to change sources. Example from TV to HMDI, I have to press Source, the down button 4 times, then enter.
Would be a little better if I could rearrange the order of sources but can't figure out how. The current order is TV, AV1, AV2, Component, HMDI. Any idea how to move HDMI after TV. Realize with HMDI-CEC, if I press play on the player, it will switch to the HDMI input but I've defeated Samsung's Anynet+ as it turns on the TV if I'm just trying to listen to a music CD. |

You can't, however, on most HDTVs you can "label" the unused inputs as "skip". These will then be greyed out and you won't have to press the button as much. Also, you can often press the source button and "navigate" to the souce via the up/down arrows, or sometimes by pressing a number (like 5).
You could also get a Harmony remote, which would change directly to the input as well as making the appropriate changes to your other devices. with only one button press like "watch TV" or "Watch DVD".

No you can't move the source order.
But my samsung puts only the active inputs at the top of the list. pressing source button repeatedly scrolls thru the active inputs. Or, press source once, navigate to the one you want and press enter. Or, like 57 suggested, the Harmony remote will increase your vieing experience.

Is somewhat frustrating that Samsung decided to place the HMDI input lower priority than composite and component.

There is no real priority - they are simply numbers. Just as an FYI, I have not encountered a TV that allows you to change the input order, but most will allow you to manually "skip" inputs so that they are "greyed out", or automatically activates inputs as cables are plugged in.
If HDMI is the "last" and "TV" is the first and you wish to go from HDMI to TV, you can often go "one down", to get to TV, instead of "4 up". BTW, very few people use the "TV" input, although I realize that some do. The TV input is often the pain for some people because it's the one input on TVs that cannot be "skipped".

On my Samsung LCD TV, all connected inputs are shown at the top of the list, while unconnected inputs are moved to the bottom and greyed out. This means that I don't have to skip past inactive sources, since they've already been moved to the bottom.

If a device is plugged into a port, even is powered of, it shows up in the menu.
With the Samsung, no sense in scrolling backwards (upwards) as even though the unused sources are greyed out, you still have to navigate through them. Would even be more convenient if like my old Sony, just hit a TV/VIDEO button to roll through the sources connected rather than having to press three separate buttons. And since questioning the new logic, what was wrong with how the old sets would allow you if in a video source to come back to the TV just by entering in a channel number. Love to get a Harmony, but years back the wife surprised me with a Kameleon 8in1 that I hate and rarely use. I feel bad enough not using it, but tossing it for a Harmony, I couldn't. |

Click on > sources (on samsung remote control) go on to the source you want (I have it in HDMI1/DVI), > then push tools > there you have only two options (edit name and information) > choose edit name and OK. A new window pop-up - there are different sources. Scroll down to choose (mine is hdmi1/dvi) > click OK and a small window pop up on the previous one. You can see then options like videorecorder, DVD, STB, AV, DVI , PC etc...and finally "TV". Choose TV and there you go. I switched off my tv switched back and worked like a charm. Hope this will work for you and no more annoying scrolling. I have Samsung LED series 5000. Martina |

I know on my Toshiba TV the inputs have numbers as well, so I can press Input, then 4 to select my HDMI 1 input. Do Samsung TVs have that option?
