HTIB with Wireless Rear Speakers

Hey guys I'm looking for a new home theater system with wireless rear speakers. Surprisingly I can't seem to find much info on this and most of what I am finding is a few years old.

A few questions.

1. Is it common for most HTIB to have wireless rear speakers these days.

2. Do wireless speakers actually work good and are they worth getting.

Any recommendations and or advise would be greatly appreciated

In my experience, many HTiB's with "wireless" rear speakers are not truly wireless; they have a module that requires a power outlet, and the rear speakers plug into the module. True, you won't have speaker wire running from the front of the room to the rear, but you'll have it going side-to-side instead.

I'm sure most members here will suggest running speaker wire if and whenever possible to ensure highest quality sound.

I would guess that the recent popularity of soundbars have replaced the need for HTiB with wireless rear speakers.

1. No, most do not have wireless speakers, although there are probably some that do.

2. Some work OK - especially if they use bluetooth instead of IR, but they are not as good as wired speakers and subject to some dropouts, especially as you walk in front of the receiving module.

3. There are "kits" you can purchase (transmitter/receiver) for "wireless" rear speakers, but as mentioned above, they are not wireless since there are still wires to the speakers from the receiver, which also needs an electrical outlet. Sometimes one of the speakers is the "receiver" and there is only one speaker wire pair that needs to run from the one speaker to the other, but again, the speaker with the built in receiver needs a power outlet.
