Default Options for the Program Guide?

I find the scroll speed of the Fibe-tv guide to be very slow and/or inconsistent. Since this doesn't happen when scrolling through the Galaxie stations, I'm guessing it is because it picks up the current feed so it can display it as the thumb-nail preview.

I can't find any options to turn this preview off. I'd also like to reverse the order of the stations, which I could do with Bell-TV.

Anyone?

Thanks, Rich

There are no options for what you ask.
On another note; you can remove all the Galaxy stations from the Guide, and use the app for it. Cleans up the guide quite a bit.

@Rich Chambers, you can page-down through the guide using the channel-down key. That will minimize the time for the previews if you're just skipping through the guide.

Thanks nitra and Dr.Dave. I do have the galaxie channels removed from my favourites, although I mostly use the regular guide (for some reason). And page-down does help. I think I'm annoyed because I was so used to Expressvu and my 9242 PVR.

One other thing: both my Harmony and the original Bell remote must be aimed almost dead on directly at the PVR. Even a slight variation (10-15 degrees) and it doesn't receive the signal. The box on my second TV is the same. This causes a lot of grief and I think is partly what causes annoyance while scrolling down through the guide. Sometimes the button works, sometimes not, depending upon how steady I hold the remote.

That remote issue is very odd, I have a harmony and don't have that issue at all, I can aim mine in pretty much any direction and it works fine, perhaps the sensor in yours isn't pointing in the right direction.

nitra -- it isn't a Harmony issue. The orginal Bell remote has the same problem.

nitra -- what PVR do you have? Mine is the 2262.

2262, I'm wondering if your IR sensor is not pointing properly.

@Rich Chambers, here's a quote from the Digital Home FAQs that you may find useful:

FAQ - Things to check first
Quote:
18. Some compact fluorescent lightbulbs have caused problems with some TVs, some STBs and some remotes. If you are having problems and have CFs, turn them off to see if they are contributing to the issue. Some TVs (Sharp, Samsung) have also been known to interfere with STBs - turning down the backlight on LCDs sometimes works, place the STB further from the LCD, turn off OPC, or simply wait a few minutes for the TV to be warm. Plasmas can do this too. Here's a link on this topic:
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=64463
If this doesn't help, here are some troubleshooting ideas:

Do you have the STB behind a glass door and if so, does opening the door help?

Do you have a light on the 2262 that flashes when it receives a signal from the remote? I would try turning off the TV to eliminate it as source of interference and see if the light flashes when you press a remote button from an angle.

Thanks, Dr.Dave. I've had the interference from the LCD TV before with BTV, and adjusted so that it worked. Never thought about that being different with the new STB.

The 2262 on/off lamp blinks when it receives a command, so it will be easy to check.

Where is the IR sensor on the 2262?

Rich

PS. Perhaps this should have a new thread? It started as a program guide option issue.

OK, confession is good for the soul, even if I don't like to seem to be stupid.

My wife (yes, I will blame her) put a little bit of paper in front of those extremely bright LEDs....

I removed it. Need I say any more?

However, I still don't like the program guide.
