I personally have an HD only policy; it is after all 2012. I have to think that the number of in use and operationaly HD TV's is close to or exceeding the number of SD at this point.
Depending on how flawed the viewer measuring is; this is a policy for change as advertising on SD channels never reach me. I suppose you could argue that PVR is kind of killing this form of income as well. Personally I'd not cry if all the SD channels were removed, but I know some people will still not have access to HD. It would be very nice to have this list posted earlier added in the near future: Missing HD channels (Ontario) - my fav's in bold. English ABC Spark HD Animal Planet (Canada) HD AMC HD BBC World News HD BNN HD Bloomberg HD Bravo! HD CNBC HD CTV News Channel HD Discovery Channel (Canada) HD Discovery Science HD Eternal Word Television Network HD Fox News Channel HD GolTV HD HDNet Hollywood Festival Hollywood Storm Investigation Discovery HD MGM Channel MSNBC HD Space HD Spike HD WarnerFilms WNLO Buffalo HD (The CW) WNYO-TV Buffalo HD (MyNetworkTV) WPCH-TV (Peachtree) Atlanta HD Extra bonus would be to see US channels like: TNT & USA |

Sigh. First, channels like TNT and USA are not authorized for air in Canada, so Rogers nor any other Canadian BDU has the station in their lineup. So its a moot point. As for that list of stations, its incomplete. Here is a more complete list (note: it is missing Canadian locals that are HD. It also doesn't include stations that are authorized by CRTC but no BDU is carrying).

Just to add that there is no BBC World HD feed that I am aware off. However NHK-HD would be nice to see added to our lineup.
Also the Super Stations licences need to be reviewed/updated so that their real channels are added back again (WGN America and TBS). In the French lineup, another nice addition to the lineup would be SPM Premiere (previously known as RFO-1). It's carried by Shaw Direct and Videotron. A channel received OTA from the french island of St Pierre et Miquelon with a long history of sour relationships with canadian networks such as TV5, TVA, V, etc.. |

Please, lets stick to the topic of this thread - New channels on Rogers, not what's available FTA or other parts of the world, etc. Since people didn't listen to this warning, some OT posts have been removed.

Just noticed TLN HD This morning on Rogers Cable in GTA West - Mississauga on channel 793 (weird how it does not fit into the hd channel 500 range)
It does not mention free preview anywhere on the channel, its not auto hd either. but i did notice they stretched a 4:3 show to fill in the entire frame, maybe theyre new at hd broadcasting? i will love to see how a true HD show looks on this channel. |

Hopefully they'll soon follow with ABC Spark, Hollywood Suite, and Cartoon Network. I won't hedge my bets though.

Anyone notice that both Nat Geo Wild HD/SD are both on the same channel depending on the type of set-top box you have. Maybe this is a new trend since their are few spots left in the 500 range.

No, that's normal on Rogers. They do that with many channels so that they'll have the same channel number on either SD or HD boxes. However, both versions usually appear at other channel numbers too. |

I know Nat Geo Wild HD & TLN HD have launched on Rogers but has TLNW HD launched on Rogers I no longer have the HD PVR to confirm it has or not. I know TLNW HD has launch but not sure on what providers?

Rogers Ontario
TLN en Español on Channel 780 Telelatino (TLN) East on Channel 782 Telelatino (TLN) West on Channel 783 Telelatino (TLN) West HD on Channel 793 Channel 792 is vacant so I figure TLN East HD will eventually wind up there...

Why would they launch the West HD feed before the East HD feed, that makes a lot of sense??
