Default WPXD 50

Anyone know what is going on with Ion TV in detroit and their move to channel 50. I get 31 on and off and would like to see them on 50 to get them regularly. I have not seen anything since they shut down again last week.

While looking for E's this evening I found a new station from Cleveland. It's one of those franken FM stations where audio from CH6 can be heard on 87.7 Mhz. They have some hokey music playing with various pictures of downtown Cleveland displayed with the station ID in the corner.

I wonder if this could cause occasional problems with those around London who were near the cliff with CIII-6 from Paris to begin with.

Anyway, here's a picture I took of it.

^^^^ Interesting catch. Not sure it'd cause problems for London viewers of Paris CIII channel 6 though, as it's a low power (LP) station...

Default Global CIII Ch 6 Paris

Anyone else have intermittent PSIP issues with this station? Signal for me is 100%, but the station will drop intermittently on my Channel Master CM7000 DVR. The DVR will then detect it as a new station. Very frustrating.

Yes, given the odd virtual channel numbers, there is definitely something up.

Has anyone else noticed that CHWI-16 has been without EPG for the last couple of days.

EPG has been fixed this morning. I wrote to the station Manager, and they had it fixed, after it was reported.

Refer to Wikki article about them. They are currently in testing mode. They tried to go to 31, but CITY TV, would not let them

Not only that but it's now mapping to 26-1 like Windsor's repeater station instead of 16-1 like it had. Best of all, so far after watching it for 15 min I haven't seen the constant lines of pixellation/broken picture problems that have plagued CHWI 16 ever since the flash cut date. Here's hoping the problem has finally been identified. Won't be surprised if it returns later. When it is fixed it never lasts more than half a day or so.

I am slightly surprised they are remapping to 26.1 since they advertise on their cars and out on the CTV2 Windsor building that they are 16/26.

CHWI RF16 mapping has returned to "CHWI_HD 16-1" as of yesterday and the minor pixellation has returned. Now wondering if the PSIP they went back to has been the problem all along. It was totally breakup free for a time there all day Mon when it was identical to Windsor's "CHWI 26-1".

Default Channel 29 Oil Springs (Global)

I just received confirmation from the VP of Global, saying

Quote:
Thank you very much for your note. Yes, we are very pleased to have received regulatory approvals to proceed with the Sarnia-Oil Springs DTV conversion.

We are transitioning several transmitters across the country over the months ahead and our target is to have the Oil Springs transmitter broadcasting in high definition by the end of 2012. The exact cut-over date will be determined upon confirmation of delivery dates of customized equipment and service vendor scheduling. At least one month in advance of the DTV launch, notice will be provided via a “text crawl” on the Global Toronto signal broadcast from the Oil Springs transmitter and on the Shaw DTV web site

Thumbs up CIII Global 29 (Sarnia-Oil Springs)

^^^^ THANKS for posting the great news OTA-London! ^^^^

For OTAers in the London and SW Ontario area, it's a nice change from the recent CBC analog transmitters and CTV (CKCO-42 Sarnia-Oil Springs) status news.

Hopefully Global/Shaw do their homework, and also send sufficient signal towards the London area. Many London and area residents haven't been successful in picking up CIII Global 6.1 (VHF) from Paris, ON since the digital transition last summer.
