Default Hdmi splitter

Would it work to connect an HDMI splitter to the back of a 630, and run an HDMI cable to 2 tv's (2hdmi cables, 2 tv's 1 HDMI per tv) rather than running component cables out of the receiver? Or would component cables give a better picture? I realize that both tv would be on the same program.

There is not usually a huge difference between HDMI and component video, assuming that the TVs are appropriately optimized for the particular input in use. Discussed in the following FAQ:

Ya....if you can see the difference between HDMI and Component, then you have extremely good eyesight.....or I have extremely poor eyesight...lol....anyways, you should be able to do what you're talking about, but a cheaper way might be to run HDMI and Component simultaneously....

I've tried a few different HDMI splitters to have one running to my TV and one to my projector in the same room and I have yet to find one that works. I suspect it's the HDCP handshaking that's getting messed up. I would also suggest running HDMI/component to make sure that it works.

Well Howiedoin and 57, I'm surprised you find so little difference between the two! I own two plasmas and I can observe a much more vivid contrast radio on HDMI sources. Component always has a tiny greenish tint and background. Was able to observe this on several sat receivers that carry both outputs as well as a Samsung BD player.

1. I did mention that there was not a huge difference, not that there was none.

2. I also mentioned that the inputs needed to be optimized for the particular device/connection. Since you didn't mention that your TV was calibrated, I can only assume that it was not.

3. This thread is about Shaw Direct. Some BD players (and some other STBs, etc) can have certain limitations regarding the CV output, vs HDMI.
