I continue to get sound drop outs every day mutiple times a day, sometimes it will be fine for hours then boom drop out 5 times in 15 minutes.
I've contacted shaw and they try to blame it on everything but them.
Have experianced this on every tv in the house and all experiance this problem.

I suspect it is a signal problem because all signals strength shows it as negitive, i'm guessing it's this as i have no other idea what it could be and since shaw won't admit to a problem i don't know what to do

This is starting to become annoying

last count 15 dropouts in under an hour on comedy central tonight, then 4 more in 15 minutes on MCHD.

This happens all the time every day, do i have to record every time it happens for shaw to do something because at this point they don't want to admit to it.

I'm going to post here everyday now just to document every sound drop out i have, maybe then shaw will do something

I was going to ask the same question. I know he has a Gateway but I can't recall if he has other boxes he is still using.

Had about another 20 drop outs over the last few, couldn't be bothered to post here everytime it happened plus doesn't seem like shaw even cares.

But i'll keep posting and bugging them as they can deny all they want but my service is not worth what i'm paying for

Wow Shawn, that is absolutely terrible and I feel for you. Makes my occasional reboots look like a treat rather than the annoyance it is. I'd be raising hell with a Shaw manager, over and over and over until someone listened and did something about it if I were in your shoes.

Hell, I complain (though not with a manager) rather frequently with my issues as is. You must be livid, and have every right to be in my book.

I've learned to accept it, my first PVR was bought 3rd party and had connection issues so i had to learn to accept the problems it had including sound drop outs that i thought was a problem from signal strength or my box but since i couldn't return it or anything i accepted it.

Now since i've gotten the gateway i've tried complaining a few times, waiting just to talk to someone stops me from calling most of the time but i've been using the chat but even then it's fustrating as they don't want to admit there is a problem.

First they blame the cables, try hdmi or try a digital audio cable when i explain i've tried that next they blame the recieiver then when told it happens on another tv that is connected straight from portal to tv they don't know what it is. Yet nothing is done.

For the most part this is made to be way to much of a bother so i've stopped complaining, at least until it reaches a point where i can stand it and call but even then what's the point if it doesn't get me anywhere.

But now i've found here and it's easier to vent and complain so maybe if i do it enough someone will finally listen and admit this is a problem, untill then i'm counting the drop outs

Default DCX3400 sound drop issue

On my 3400 when I am watching a pvr'd show when I FF or do a 30 second skip thru a commercial about 4 seconds after I resume watching I lose sound for about another 4 seconds. Doesn't happen every time but about 90% of the time. Anybody else have this happen to them? And yes an Expander is attached. Also I have it hooked up via optical thru the receiver also.

Bigscreenbob: That happens on my 3400 as well but only on the SD channels and not the HD ones. Mine is hooked up via coaxial cable to my receiver and I have an expander attached as well.
