Guys,

Regarding the SG2100, I've seen a few motors installed upside down (ie- some do this to gain an extra 3-4 inches). when its inverted, does the receiver "somehow" detect it and its business as usual, or do we have to inverse East as West and vice versa on the motor controls?

If the receiver does not detect it, I suppose USUALS is useless and manually entering each sat is the way to go.

Also, what is the max weight? My spec sheet just says 1.2M dish is the max.
Anyone have experience w/ an upside down motor?

I've never put 1 upside down, like you I beleive it would just make usals useless. however I have 1 on a very old and heavy 42" starchoice dish. it's handled it well for a few years now.

I had a Stab HH120 that mounts upside down compared to the SG2100. It still works but the housing was damaged during a wind storm, am hoping to repair it.
I wouldn't recommend inverting positioner motor, the antenna plugs are going to be exposed to moisture, likely the same with the shaft interface (seal & bearing). Think Stab HH120s are still available. Nice heavy duty unit that can handle a 40" dish.

I have a fixed Primestar antenna I might consider putting on a motor someday. Any suggestions motor wise?
I suspect like receivers there's a lot of clone motors out there.
Either that or I might just park it on AMC1 103W for the funky skew.
