Yes that is what I thought too. And I have always wondered where all the "take out's" go as I have neve seen a used or refurbed box anywhere before. Sounds like an odd box left on an installeres vehicle or maybe even one taken out and recovered earlier that day! Probably not Telus standard but maybe installer short equipment and trying to get by without having to go back to the compound for equipment. You could probably argue the point based on your install dates.

Finally, I was successful restarting my silver PVR tonight with the new version. I, too, am getting the blue light left on.

Since the update I can't watch TV on the Xbox anymore. I can watch for maybe 5 minutes before it starts to stutter, then black picture (guide etc. is still responsive, just no signal) then my internet slows to an absolute crawl. Internet light is still green on the modem, but it takes a minute or 2 to load Google. Did a full reboot of everything (modem first, then PVR, then turned the Xbox on) still happening. I couldn't even access my recordings via the Xbox when I first got the update but after the full reboot I can, though I can't pause or record TV with it. Watching TV, recording, and accessing recordings using the PVR is fine. Will try a few things before I call Telus. |

I just power cycled my pvr and stb and they both upgraded. All I can say is that I'm completely underwhelmed by the upgrade. We waited forever for that?
No new features. No fix to the black levels. No noticable difference in system responsiveness. And to top it off, NO IMPROVEMENT TO THE STUPID GUIDE! Of all the things I really dislike about Optik, the worst has to be the guide. It is terrible. It should be much easier to customize. There should be a way to unselect all unsubscribed channels. There should be a way to unselect all radio channels. There should be a way to unselect all foreign language channels. There should be a way to unselect all PPV channels There should be a way to force all PVR/STB on the network to use a common guide. Etc. I generally like Optik, but I am not satisfied with the disregard Telus shows their customers by the way they ignore our complaints about black levels and the guide. |

Take note we are in the minority here when it comes to complaining about black levels, or things about the guide. Much as it may seem we're very vocal about this, the truth is, most Optik TV subscribers are probably happy with the service.

Just because we are the "minority" doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist. The majority of people who use Telus probably don't even know how to set up a TV, let alone calibrate it.

What are these black level problems? I have never had these problems? Black levels could be your TV not the signal and it usually is your TVs problem.
If you could tell me more about the problem and your TV model number, I may help find a solution. |

Explained it too many times. If you don't see it, you're just oblivious to the fact. And don't act like an expert that can fix my problem, when you don't even notice it.

I don't know what your problem is but you don't need to be insulting. If you notice I only have 7 posts and I'm knew here. I'm just trying to help and you don't need to act like a jerk. BTW everything I said is true. Black levels are 99.9 % of the time caused by your TV. Your TV controls contrast not the box. I have also scanned your previous posts to see if you've even explained it an you haven't. That's why I asked. All I see is constant complaining.

I actually don't really notice the black level issues either. I may be in the minority, but I am quite happy with the overall service. At least nowadays there are a few other providers out there, so if you are really that unhappy with your current provider, you can choose to spend your money with another one

Agree with you! I asked party in my post what he was seeing and if he could describe it and what type of TV he had. All comments should be judged on HDTV channels as that is the future so far until we get 1080P. Mine are as perfect as can be expected and no complaints even at 1080I. Pretty good over copper! I'd say. SD channels will be over the place depending on original transmitters from any country. You would be hard put to adjust your TV to suit all. Don't believe this of Optik TV origin anyway. Nothing is constant in SD like HDTV as far as I can see. At least some standards have been set with HDTV. My biggest complaint is the varying audio levels on the SD channels. Nothing constant like the 5.1 on HDTV. I use HDMI throughout. I am happy to be sans Shaw! |

The remote playback from PVR on remote 330 box seemed go ok. Would love to condense all my subscribed channels in one list. I don't need to see yards of unwatched channel listings. |

Those of us who had optik tv when it was on 1.6. The blacks were black in dark scenes not greyish. Also the colors really used to very vibrant and pop out not washed out. Im using plasmas tvs samsung, pioneer & panasonic. I talk to some one at Telus about this issue. The telus rep is member here knows about this problem....

Do the black levels affect all people? I thought that it only affected some?? My colors have always looked great on my tv...I had 1.6 and haven't noticed any difference since the upgrade to 2.0 or 2.1.

My Telus picture when watching HD is equally as good as the Shaw signal is see at work on the same TV, neither are as good as blu-ray though.
