Rumours have been swirling for the past few weeks that the end is nigh for Rogers flanker Chatr. MobileSyrup
reported earlier this month that Chatr kiosks in Montreal will soon be converted to Fido. I've been tipped that this is likely to be their strategy for all of Canada, probably by the end of the summer.
Fido kiosks will continue to sell Chatr top-up cards, and they will continue to sell off the remainder of the Chatr devices until stock runs dry. At that point, it's not clear whether Rogers will continue to allow SIM only activations or not.
In a world where smartphones sales are quickly becoming the financial driver of the mobile sector, a brand like Chatr, dedicated to talk and text plans, likely didn't have much of a future independently.
IF you're interested in one of Chatr's plans, I'd advise you to get on board quickly. You may not get another chance.
