This is a deal breaker for me. In a perfect world, it might work but not in this one. The only business that can have this policy is one that relies on massive numbers of non-repeat customers. I'm old-fashioned and think the customer should have the power, not the business.

I agree. In this case since apparently they come right out and say there is no after sales support, it would be the last place I'd consider doing business with.
The quality of any company, business, retailer, etc. is directly proportional to their after sales support.

With Openbox and all other FTA receivers other than AzBox, we offer a 90 day replacement period with a new unit if there are any hardware issues, exchange for store credit at par or refund with a 20% restocking fee. After that and up to 1 year, we do our best to repair the receiver under warranty if possible or exchange with a refurbished unit. AzBox is different as it has a full 2 year replacement period for any hardware issues. Regards, Dr. Sat |

Can't add much more. Good customer service is SO RARE now that this is the one aspect that can set a business apart from others. Prices are competitive; product is often the same between many businesses. So selection doesn't stand out. I understand why businesses don't want to offer good service: it can be expensive in the short term to do so. I don't understand why customers reward these bad businesses by using them. Offering good service can set a local business apart and make them more desirable to use than a supplier on the other side of the world.

TS (transport stream). You can select PS (program stream) format in the menu if you like.
Added: Get the free VLC player to watch these formats. Last edited by cyberham; 2012-05-17 at 11:18 AM. Reason: Added VLC comment. |

Thanks. Am gearing up to wiring the entire house w/ cat6 and am hoping to connect all gaming consols to a main server which will store the sat recordings. AFAIK, PS3 Media player will .TS compatible.
I know I should read more about the receiver Ive owned for the past year (the manual was horrible), but whats the point of the ethernet port on it? Cheers, K

I doubt reading this particular manual will help you too much. It's better to ask questions on forums. The only use I've found for the ethernet port is to allow connection of my S9 to my home network so I can transfer channel data either from my S9 to my PC, or vice versa. This is convenient if you need to edit any channel data (such as PIDs) with an external editor. It's also convenient for quickly making a backup of the channel data to your PC.
