I am trying to port out a 204 area code number (Manitoba) from les.net (VoIP provider) to Shaw. Shaw has submitted the port request but informed me it was not successful, mentioning something about not having a trading agreement with les.net.
Does this make sense? Anything I can do? I was under the impression porting was straight forward and that there should not be any funny business. |

It says on the les.net site that they do do ports...
There is a one time charge of $30 to Port-In a DID All DIDs have a $1.99 Setup Fee There is a $75 penalty to cancel a Port-In Request So I don't see why they can't port out a number. Did you try asking les.net why they didn't let you port out? |

I submitted a ticket to les.net, waiting for their reply. Was just curious on other opinions here while I waited.

Just to update, I spoke with les.net and they explained that the issue is with them becoming a CLEC in Manitoba recently, so the way they port numbers has changed and this is the first they are doing with Shaw. They are working on getting the necessary arrangements done, ETA 1-2 weeks.

This is normal, providers need to have agreements to be able to port between them, because there is a bunch of stuff that needs to be setup in the background to make the ports happen.
