Environment Canada’s senior climatologist, Dave Phillips, says that their preliminary data for the June-July-August forecast shows almost all of Canada will be warmer than normal. “Normal” is defined by the average temperature in a location over the 30-year period from 1971-2000.
http://www.globaltvcalgary.com/canad...573/story.html Also on the Global web page are these predictions: According to AccuWeather Ontario and southern Quebec can expect more stormy weather than usual this summer; and in Calgary and Edmonton temperatures are predicted to be hotter than normal with less rainfall. “According to the United Nations, April was the 326th month in a row where the temperature of the world has been warmer than normal. So really, we live on a warmer planet, and it’s no different here in Canada..." Last edited by NovaMan; 2012-05-16 at 06:11 PM. Reason: corrections in spelling |

Some of what they say is true, but Dave Phillips got it totally wrong last summer. We are not yet at a stage where they can predict weather more than a couple of days in advance. Climate, yes. Weather, no.

These long range forecasts are, historically, about as accurate as flipping a coin. I saw one about a month ago that said the Summer would be cool and dry. Excuse me while I find a coin for the Fall forecast...
