I'm looking for ways to get Hulu on my 360. Does anyone know how to do this other than subscribing to Playon or a similar service? I'm not too keen on leaving my pc running the whole time I wanna watch something. I usually watch stuff closer to bedtime and I dont' want to have to get up from a nice warm, comfy bed to go shutdown my computer which is located in the living room. Does anyone know if changing my locale to US would solve this problem? I'm already enjoying Netflix, Crackle and Youtube straight from my 360 and I'm hoping I can do the same with Hulu. Is there any Canadian in here who has successfully installed or got Hulu to work on their Xbox 360? If so, please share with us how you did it in detail. (even billing) Thanks! |

To get Hulu on your Box you are definitely gong to have to change your country setting to the US and use a DNS or VPN service. You should be able to change the DNS setting on your Xbox or router so you don't need to keep a PC running. Note that changing your Xbox country setting will likely screw up stuff like your Xbox live account, gold subscriptions, etc.

I can confirm that the Hulu App will not work anymore on the Xbox 360 no matter what you do for canucks. It does still work on the PS3 with the right "setup".

If anyone can confirm this please let me know. I got Netflix to work but my trial for Playon ended and can't test Hulu now. I guess I could sign up with my other email address and give a another try eh? |

I just thought I'd add a quick post reporting my speeds acheived with VPNAuthority. I used to be on Teksavvy's 6mbps plan and with a speedtest (not connected to the VPN) my max speed was about 4.5mbps down, when I was connected to the VPN it was about 4.2mbps.
When Teksavvy ofered the speed upgrade I searched around to try and find the max download speeds that VPNAuthority could attain but couldn't find anything. Since most of my traffic goes through the VPN upgrading to a speed that the VPN couldn't achieve would be a waste of money. Here's my results, it's only a slight improvement but it makes a big difference when streaming video to my TV from sites like HGTV, A&E etc. ![]() ![]() I connect to the VPN with a second router running DD-WRT. I've tested numerous times over the last couple of weeks and this seems to be the max speed you'll get from VPNAuthority. Something you might want to consider if you're planning on paying for a speed upgrade. |

Great - thanks for doing the Speedtest! Definitely fast enough for hulu.
I also got a note this week saying they're adding a new US server in the weeks to come so hopefully increases speeds (obviously depends on where they add it). Just as a point of comparison: I did a couple speed test on Hotspotshield which came up at 2.6Mbps (Average) which is half the speed that your speedtest got ... so definitely confirms a paid service is the way to go if you plan on streaming content. Happy Easter! |

you can try hidemyass or purevpn, they both have many VPN servers in U.S.

Just thought I would relate my experience getting roku to work in canada with US channels
i have a linksys E3000 router and was concerned if roku could stream HD wirelessly, especially given my router is in the basement far away from roku and TV. here is my summary: - bought an XD 2 roku in the states. - got me a FREE trial from US DNS service unblockus - followed unblockus instructions to use pre-paid visa purchased from staples, with registration to US address. the US address registration is kinda funny. for me, the address i have is actually valid.. it is a family home in US. but for all the pre-paid visa knows i could have entered totally bogus US address. -used PC to create roku account with same US address and pre-paid visa. Roku also asks for phone number, i just used my canadian phone number cause i couldn't wait for google voice number and skype number costs too much $ - plugged Roku into TV and power source and linked it with my previously created account - changed setting to full HD - went to amazon vids, selected their free HD content (client list, highly recommended "test" video) and it worked flawlessly! i was so happy how great it works! so much great content for me, all my fav shows and some new ones i wanted to watch. using Plex to stream local hard drive stored content through Roku (installed the plex channel) to TV. works great too. i signed up with unblockus on monthly basis. it was really easy to setup and their useful tips for work around solutions was really great. i couldn't be happier with my setup! I kind of did the same thing you did. I first signed up in Florida at my mom-in-laws using her address. I came back here, and even with a Canadian IP address which i tested, it still gives me the U.S. content for some reason. So basically, with or without Unblock-US, it still gives me the U.S. content. I'm tempted to setup Hulu plus and Netflix and see what happens. Another especially half decent service is Crackle which is completely FREE . Some of the Private channels are worth setting up as well like CNNi and USTVNow. By the way, forgot to mention that I'm using a Canadian credit card.

The reason for this is because you setup a US Netflix account in the US. When you come to Canada and log in with your US Netflix ID, you will still get to view the US content. THis is the same as going to the US and logging into Netflix with your Canadian ID, you will get to see the US Netflix content. Or if you use UnblockUS or a VPN connection in Canada, and log in with your Canadian account, you will see US content.

I am considering signing up for fibre op internet and tv (Aliant). Will VPN and DNS work for these in a similar way as has been discussed here?

Just wondering if anyone here has experience with VPN services to European countries, especially Germany. I note that VPN Authority now has servers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but nowhere else.

I also believe that you need good high speed Internet at this end, so it doesn't become a weak link. My speed is 25 Mbps using Shaw Cable and typically speed tests at >20 Mbps from local servers. |

Here's a page that has some good info and links on how easy it is to get Blockless setup. I had it up and running at home very quickly on my computer/Wii/PS3.
