Default disable 6131 screensaver?

Bell sent me a new 6131 to replace my trusty old 6100. But now many of my recordings (not on the 6131, rather on my HTPC) are of the "screensaver", instead of the show I wanted to record...

Is there a way to disable this? I found the option to disable the Inactivity Standby, but that doesn't seem to be it, as I still woke up to the screensaver this morning.

No. The workaround will be to add an EHD to the 6131, and set auto tune reminders for your shows.

!! Not sure what an EHD is, but if it means I need to set up recordings on the receiver itself this is a showstopper.

We set up all of our recordings on the HTPC, which will also move them around as need be. Setting up timers on the receiver just wouldn't work...

So... Really... No way to turn it off, eh?

Ok - after reading this a bit more closely, I'm going to assume you mean External Hard Drive - as I said that's not going to work as we run a proper/large HTPC to handle all of that (the sat receiver with an HDPVR and two HDHomeruns for OTA).

Anyway, I think I may have found a solution - apparently in addition to the inactivity timer which I already disabled, there's also a nightly "update" that's scheduled for 3am by default, which also puts the receiver into screen saver mode.

But that can also be disabled, which I've done. Hopefully tomorrow I won't wake up to "press select...". I'll report back if it works.

Don't loose any sleep, as in the morning the big bouncing "Press Select" ball will be running amok on your screen....lol

Well I didn't lose any sleep but was kinda nervous this morning...

But - success! The silly screensaver CAN be disabled - you have to disable both the inactivity timer and the daily update, and it's all good.

If you use the STB guide (which I do not), disabling the nightly update may be an issue.

Thanks for the info groovejumper, I also have an HTPC and recently received a 6131. My work-around was to have my TV recording application to send the requested channel number, followed by 'select' and then send the channel number again but disabling the screensaver entirely is a much better solution.
