Talking 2011- 12 Best EPL season/finale ever

Did anyone catch the Man City Vs QPR game? I thought it was a nail bitting game and the the last 2 goals by City gave the them cup, it was the best thing I've seen this year beside the two Champions League semi finals. All hail the noisy neighbours.

I'm a fan (life long) of the 2nd place team in all of this, but I must say it was quite a finish. Man U thought they had won it all when their game had finished at Sunderland and then in the last 2 minutes or so, Man City finished it off.

Congrats to Man Citeh.

Personally, I was hoping that this season would have been the last we would have seen of Tevez and Balotelli, but they may stick around and all is forgiven.

Joey Barton is an absolute menace in my mind...and not a misunderstood intellectual.

That was the most dramatic end I have ever seen. Manchester united finished their game 1-0 and were looking at the scoreboard waiting for City's final whistle. 2 goals in extra time seemed very unlikely as city struggled with few chances after QPR went up 2-1 and parked the bus in the defensive zone. I was happy for them...44 years later they get it done....gives me hope the Leafs too can one day do the same....I wish.

I still think the final game of the 1988/89 season between Liverpoo & Arsenal was more entertaining; top 2 playing each other, Arsenal had to win by 2 clear goals to win the league and with about 30 seconds remaining got their 2nd goal to win 2-0....at Anfield. Oh it made this Evertonian very happy!

But then this game was before football ever existed....if you listen to the media today

The look on Ferguson's face was priceless. And say what you want about Tevez and Balotelli, but at least City beat QPR clean and fair without resorting to the offside and diving of Ashley Young.

Actually, Man Utd and Fergie deserve a lot of credit for coming second - what with Vidic's injury, having to bring old man Scholes back because they have no midfield, and owners who take more from the club than put back in.

Hey Torontodarkblue,

I have to agree that only 88/89 comes close or matches this season's climax. I guess that means that the romantic comedy movie script is being worked on right now.
I also agree with you about the media today thinking it all began with the Premier League.

My recollection of 88/89, which could be mistaken, was that Arsenal scored a couple of seconds prior to injury/stoppage/added time. (Free live top flight football on TV in England, remember that!)

I think this year betters it. Imagine if you will that it was Everton that scored twice in added time to come from behind and snatch the title away from Liverpool. I'm sure that would beat even 88/89 for you.

And kudos to Everton on a respectable finish on a budget - both in the League and at Old Trafford. Also one of the few teams to beat the Champ1-6ns.

cbar - yes, 89 points to only finish second was a magnificent performance and a new record. In perspective, in only two of their EPL title wins did they gain more points per game (99-00 and 08-09). The bar was raised this year.
