They are definitely not shaping. It's not uncommon for me to hit 6MByte when downloading multiple torrents (which of course converting to mbits = 48 mbits/s) I've never hit this speed on a single torrent, and very, very rarely on a direct download. But I am getting the full speed.
As a personal opinion, I would never pay for more than the broadband 50 pack. Sure 100Mb and 250Mb look awesome on paper, but it's not just about how fast we can download. Think of how many other computers, servers, internet connections, ISP, etc there are out there. Shaw is one of the first to offer download speeds that fast, and others simply can't upload to us that quickly.

I am using shaw's cisco modem router dealio. Im curious to see what would happen if I was to ask for a new one.

Although it still doesn't make sense as to why the speedtests are all correct. And that absolutely nothing was changed in the home network, or on the computers themselves.

OT but... BB100 isn't about the d/l speed for me (and I suspect many other customers). It's the 5 Mbps (soon to be 10) upload and the 500 GB cap (though, I don't get anywhere near the 500 I do exceed the cap for BB50 often) that I need.

Exact same thing happened to me here in Victoria BC. I was downloading with max speed on torrents for months, and suddenly about a week ago, dropped to 1.5mbit. I have tried different torrent clients, plugged my modem stair to my computer, nothing... shaw is throttling somehow..

The new up for BB100 is 10? Do you know the new up for BB50? And when will we get this?

5mbps upload for BB50, you get it when your area is finished with the digital network upgrade.

@tablo, are we looking at weeks, months or years for this to happen. It's about time we get some decent upload speeds as compared to the rest of the world. We are paying through the nose for highspeed here (again, compared to many parts of the world).
