Question

Though I like the pics, and the next song feature, I 'd perfer if Rogers would add the rest of the Galaxie line up.At present they only offer 40 compared to BTV's 45 and Shaws ?? I know they add more then BTV but not sure of the exact number.

is it just me or is the digital audio channels now transmitted in SDV? before they were clear unencrypted audio streams and a qam/atsc tv could tune them before not sure if it is still in the clear

One thing I noticed about the Galaxie channels now is that pressing 'pause' on the remote actually pauses the music! Can't do that with the radio stations, as has been the usual, so there's that.

Good points - both. You could not previously record the programming and you can now. It would not surprise me that they now encrypt these channels - we'll probably find out if people report they can no longer receive them in the clear. These channels have "value" (more than Fireplace, Aquarium, etc) and perhaps Stingray asked for Rogers to give them more value...

I still receive them on my TV Tuner, but without the pictures. TV displays "Audio only". Example: GX7 (Hit List) on Rogers Channel 713, is currently on TV Channel 67-34.

I was getting the blue screen on my 8642 with the old firmware until a few days ago and then I had a reboot and suddenly the music stations now display the picture. I too miss the ability to just have the screen go dark and wish some more information (such as year of the song, name of the last song) was available, although I guess now we can rewind the station.

The graphics are kinda lame, really, and not really necessary. Stock images, not related directly to the song in question. Prefer the dark screen.

who knows if they continue to have them in clear qam, its unknown at this point. i can tell u the graphics channels appear to be sdv so chances are, your tv wont pick them up, i wonder how much more band width the graphics take up on your cable stream?

I lost the Galaxie channels on my TV for a few days (TV displayed "Program has no content"), but today they are back (without the graphics). I suspect Rogers will eventually encrypt these channels, and my TV will display "Scrambled program".

Default Galaxie Pictures

Would the twit who decided that all viewers must enjoy the pictures on the Galaxie music channels please restore the Blank Option? It's a distraction and, for plasma screens, will cause burning.

That is a provider specific issue, since it is done with firmware running on the box, or an interactive app.

@Jm1248, I personally would love to have the new picture thing in my area. But I do think that it should have an option to turn it off for those who don't want it.

I liked it for the first 5 minutes, after that I was sick of it and just wanted my screen to go dark. I now find myself listening much less to be honest.
