So you are moving after all the fun we had setting you up...Where is you next post? Here's the answers you were looking for: "Just follow these three easy steps to have your dish set up and ready when you move in: 1.Call us at 1.888.554.7827 at least three weeks before moving day with your new address. 2.Pack up your receivers and remotes and go. Leave your satellite dish on the roof. We'll install a new dish and hook up your receivers at your new home. 3.Kick up your feet and enjoy Shaw Direct from day one in your new home. Remember, if you're moving into an apartment, condo or rental property, we'll need written permission from the landlord before we can install your dish." You'll find it here: http://www.shawdirect.ca/english/cus...oveprogram.asp

thanks Jim, you and many others have been a great help over the last 2 years! I'll still be in Nunavut, not much more south than Resolute, i'll be in Igloolik. There, my signal range will increase, 10 degrees elevation vs 6...I have to try and figure out how to rig my F1 dish to receive signal with the xku LNB so I can get G1 with the 2 dish setup...bringing my setup with me, but always like to have a new dish because It will give me the new LNB ! For the record I'd be willing to pay for time and shipping if anyone out there is willing to make one for me

Danny,
Here I thought you were coming south like Yellowknife or that lattitude. Why not call Shaw Direct at 1.888.554.7827 and explain you are moving to Igloolik and describe your present configuration. You should probably talk to the Supervisor. Play up that you will want more HD Programming off the new Bird as soon as it's ready, so you want that hardware set-up now, and not in Winter. Make sure to have your account details available. Ask them what they'll do for you. Advise you'll do a self install if they sent you the Dishes / LNBs, cable etc.,. See what they offer. I bet they'll get a Tech guy involved and offer you something. What do you have to lose? If they sound resistive you could always suggest you might go looking at what Bell has to offer Getting all new gear is a lot easier than moving it - even a few miles. Beside the new resident of your digs may become a suscriber with the old gear. Keep us posted on how it's going.

Danny, I can tell you that you'll be a LOT further south in Igloolik than in Resolute. Igloolik you might get signal from Anik G1, based on the footprint. No way anybody in Resolute will get signal. At least not according to the footprint map on Telesat's website.

I know I can get it, and I'd get it up in Resolute also because it is in the same orbital position as F1...The trick is getting the F1 and G1 signal together on one ROUND dish because this far north, we can't get F2 and F1 with the 75E dish, we need 2 round dishes connected to the switch.

You can likely by making a funky mount to use the 107.3 half of X-Ku on the prime of the round dish, and hook it up as a regular LNBF.

I'll know once the new programming for G1 rolls out, whether I'll need to or not, if all the SD programming will move to F1, and all the new HD goes to G1, I won't bother with F1...time will tell.

Take a look at the footprint as suggested. Orbital position is only one fa ctor. The transmission footprint is much smaller with the xku.

From what I can tell I'll be fine in Igloolik, google maps it and it's within the footprint, unless i'm reading the footprint wrong, they could have used more contrasting colours, makes it hard to distinguish...

It looks like Igloolik is not in the footprint...

Probaly something to do with Telesat C, satellites, physics, transponders, and the CRTC. And Shaws lack of foresight, unfortunate choices.

Danny,
It does look like Bell covers your new digs better. ![]() http://www.satbeams.com/footprints?beam=7124

I have 2 years in Igloolik, realisticly, how much change in the programming are we looking at over that amount of time? I invested a lot of money in my receivers, dishes and switches, but my main concern is that the programming that I already watch gets moved over to G1
