Netflix had some technical difficulties that, depending of the streaming device, only showed a few hundred shows versus 10,000+. Subtitle, alternate audio track were also missing on most of the devices.

I think that the $5 is well spent on netflix alone not including all the other streaming available from the other sources.

Just finished the free trial and am still not sure how long I will keep the service.

On the plus side I was able to watch "Damages" which is not available on any canadian station and I had watched it from the beginning when Showcase. Also am getting to watch the Big C which is very good and funny.
I am able to stream through my Sony TV which is handy (nothing to hook up).

On the down side - the movie offerings are not that good so I feel the need to keep the MovieNetwork and HBO to get more current movies and TV shows like Nurse Jackie.

Will give it a couple of months but not sure it is really worth it.

Another benefit to Netflix is they will show TV episodes of some great shows that were cancelled too early to be put into syndication on TV. For example Book of Daniel with Aiden Quinn. There are only 8 episodes of this gem because Christians were angry with the premise.

I'm also finding lots of foreign movies that sure beat what's on Bell right now.

I got NetFlix included as an option with my LG SmartTV. Then I saw last week that the LG SmartTV upgrader was only $50 on dell Canada so I picked one up for our 2nd TV. It took me a while to figure out that you need to sign up for a US account for NetFlix USA to work with UnoTelly on the LG products. My Canadian account acting American with UnoTelly on my Kindle Fire and PC, so it was quite the head scratcher.

I've been watching Weeds and old episodes of ADAM-12 and Rocky and Bullwinkle.
So far I see little reason to choose Canadian Netflix. The only unique Canadian TV program I noticed was Misfits season 1.

If you like Classic tv their is tons of it on HULU for FREE. All you need is Unblock-US or Unotelly. You don't have to pay Netflix. They have both Adam-12 and Bullwinkle, and really obscure classic tv like Land of the Giants, Lost in Space, etc. Can't name em all, but just do a search on HULU or tv.com. I use an HTPC so I'm not tied to any brand name Box.

I did sign up for Unotelly. I'm not HTPC- so I would need to pay for Hulu Plus for my devices.

Default Preferred device?

Is there a "preferred device" for streaming Netflix Canada?

Maybe something with a large memory buffer or ability to add external memory or hard drive buffering?

I'm using Wii now.

Thanx in advance.

I find the Roku the best as it starts the streaming almost instantly (due to it's "adaptive streaming" which starts low quality and then sharpens up about 10 seconds in) and never has to re-buffer. However it no longer shows my instant queue (ARGGG).

The ATV is next best and does still show the IQ but doesn't allow additions/removals from the device. But takes a lot longer to load and start streaming.

Just my 2 cents....

P.S. Really don't like using Netflix on the Wii. The PQ is poor and it's clumsy to navigate with the Wiimote.

Thank you for posting this, I didn't notice the date at the time and they are still $50. Pretty sure this product is discontinued but at that price you cannot go wrong

This is my second signup for Netflix. I wasn't impressed initially with the movies offerred however it seems to be slowly improving. Although I have never checked out the TV Series option I thought I would try the UK series "Being Human". I loved it. They have the first 3 seasons and I became hooked on it. A werewolf, a ghost and a vampire living together in a flat in london, trying to control their "tendancies" and not bother the general population--good brit humour, great storyline in which vampires and werewolves do what they do (so may not be good if you are squeamish). Give it a try!

"Weeds" in also available on Netflix Canada. Also, new movie releases such as "Super 8",
"Captain America", "Thor", "X-Men First Class", "The Transformers: Dark of the Moon" just to name a few are available on Netflix Canada.

Yes, Netflix America has more titles, but Netflix Canada is still very good and also contains content that is not available on Netflix U.S.

Don't diss Netflix Canada unless you are truly know what you are talking about.

Weeds on Canadian Netflix ends at season 3; versus season 6 for USA.

Watch the first 3 on Netflix Canada, then use Hotspot shield to watch the other 3 on Netflix USA. That's what I did.
