Need a new HDTV (32"~)
Looking to buy a 32" LCD for a family member with some stupid requirements. I was looking at a cheaper Sony 720P a couple months ago but the only person I know with a truck bailed on me and now they have moved in new models.
I need a TV with the following:
1) The absolute width of the TV (INCLUDING bezel) must fit within a 37 1/2" foot print (this exludes 99.9% of 37" TV's AFAIK)
2) 720P or 1080p (this won't matter for a 32" TV right? viewing distance is around 12 feet)
3) USB media port that supports MP3, JPG, AVI,MKV,MPEG4; 2~ HDMI
4) preferably $350-550
5) good integrated speakers, excellent overall picture quality including motion
6) something that will work good with a Shaw HDPVR
7) buyable in Vancouver,BC from a box retailer
8) "good" viewing angles
9) "ok" standard definition viewing
10) good build quality
11) any other bonus features are welcome

A buddy of mine has a Samsung LN32C350. It can be picked up at Future Shop for around $300. It's a 720p with a USB media port.

LN32C350 doesn't support video formats sadly; only Mp3/JPG.
I'm looking at: Samsung UN32EH5300FXZC -- no reviews online sadly.
problem is its a $650 LED 32" 1080p TV with a measly 1 year warranty and it wasn't that long ago Samsung was known for crapped out squealing cap power supplies -- is this TV even worth it? I mean ... this thing needs to fit in a cabinet with about 37" width clearance but other than that it seems like in only a few months the industry has dropped all feature rich LCD tvs and moved to LED TVs and doubled the price for something capable of playing movies of a USB keychain.
this DOES have a built in wifi adapter, DNLA + all share, web browser ... but it seems a little steep -- I DON'T even own a smart phone so won't half the features be useless?
If you can browse remote content on the PC / play movies off the computer (wirelessly) with the basic remote that comes with it, it might be worth it... the people I am helping buy the TV for keep the same TV for 15 years before upgrading (they are moving from an old 27" CRT that they were reluctant to upgrade until it crapped out)
any more input would be appreciated.
