"I use vonage for my phone, and you can not beat the value.. so I don't need a triple play package"
Same here re: vonage. All I want is broadband 50 and a decent selection of channels. Which I've (kind of) got that now under our current deal, but if I change anything my bill goes up about $25 and I'm stuck using a phone service I don't want or need. Great marketing move, if you want to keep bleeding customers. |

@amorak, someone from Shaw had posted a Calgary Kijiji ad for "shaw tv, Internet and home phone as a bundle for $29.95/m for six months". When I call the number on the ad, it leads to a Shaw voice mail.

I saw an online ad saying "Personal TV, High Speed 10, home phone $29.95/month for 24 months". Or was it just high speed 10?

I just noticed that I get w-movies HD channel 235. But I no longer get the SD channel 169.
I find this odd |

I received a cold call from Shaw tonight. They said they saw I had Internet from them and they wondered what I was doing for TV and Phone. I told them digital over the air and a voip phone. Then they said thanks for your time good bye.???
Here I thought I would be reporting a new cheap bundle to everyone. |

I received an email today with an offer of adding Shaw Direct because I already have all three services with cable.
http://www.shawdirect.ca/promotions/...m=Learn%2BMore I thought about posting this in the Shaw Direct forum instead but the email said I qualify for this only because I am a triple play cable customer. The monthly rate is just $14.99, it says in the email.

I recently was thinking of getting a cellphone plan and dumping the shaw phone. I have personal tv best of hd, newspack .highspeed 10 and basic phone. If i did this i would not have the bundle. so the new pricing for personal tv, best of hd and highspeed 10 and newspack, would actually cost me 30 dollars a month more if i dropped the phone. shaw really knows how to put the screws to you. i hope they end up like nortel and possibly rim, having it all, then screwing it up till bancrpucty

Jetranger.
Thanks for that note. It may save me some money. I am keeping SD just for Home away from home. On the web site it doesn't indicate triple play, just tv services, so I assume I can get this Shaw Direct deal along with my cable subscription. This sure seems like a good deal for the second home people! Perhaps Shaw is looking at this site often. I will call tomorrow and see if the cable subscription gives me the deal. Triple play is not available here. |

Switched to that 14.99 Shaw Direct add on program. No timeshift etc allowed, but for one receiver in a cabin/cottage/RV with 6 month vacation break allowed, it's not a bad deal

@gzink, do you have a channel list. I know someone with Shaw cable at home that just got a cottage and since they can't get cable at the cottage, they were asking me for suggestions.
The web site says "Digital Value Pack with 140 channels plus 40 digital music channels and 12 of your favourites in HD", but they don' have a channel list for that package. |

Hey everyone,
My buddy and I are students living in Calgary for the summer and would like to get some (hopefully cheap!) cable and internet for the summer. Some friends tried to transfer us their free subscription with Telus Optic and it turns out that we don't have the hookups in our building. I'm now assuming that Shaw will have something but am not sure what offerings they might have - we're basically looking for basic cable plus sports (playoffs and olympics!). HD isn't necessary but if it's possible to get channels with both of those available that would be great. We also stream Netflix and game. He plays League of Legends (PC) and I play Call of Duty (Xbox) and both plan on playing Diablo 3. Could you guys suggest an affordable package that Shaw might offer for us? Hoping to keep under $60/month... Less is better if possible. Last edited by 57; 2012-05-07 at 07:29 PM. Reason: Moved to existing thread. |
