Anyone able to share their experiences with trying to switch from Bell DSL to Teksavvy DSL? I wanted to switch to Bell's Fibe25, but of course they can't retain my grandfathered "unlimited cap" clause and can only offer me a piddly (for me!) 220 GB cap (including insurance). So I contact Teksavvy, and now they keep saying that I have "an incompatible product on my line" that needs to be removed by Bell.
I'm then told to speak to Bell's Hi-Speed Centre, which seems to be in India (cue individual on barely audible line speaking dicey English Any advice? |

TSI should be able to generate a work order to fix the line issue. It might cost you money if it's past the demarcation point though.

I think what they are saying is because you can't have 2 internet services on the same line, you have to get a cancellation put in on the bell before you can setup a new connection. Basically once you have the cancellation in place tell them that date and they will usually put the new order in to coincide with the disconnect.

When I switched DSL a few years ago, I remember it being a huge pain in the backside. Bell cancelled the first Teksavvy order for no good reason, then terminated my Bell login, leaving me with no internet. Then they charged me a bogus $100 ETF. I had to call Teksavvy on a Sunday and they got it fixed the next day - great service! Switching the landline was also a royal headache, especially long distance.
But it is SO worth it in the end. I've probably saved $800 over three years and got exactly the same service. Caller ID with Bell $10.95/mo, Teksavvy $3/mo! Call up Teksavvy and they'll help you with the process. |

In my experience it was easy as can be. I had cancelled my Bell and was up and running on TekSavvy the next day. It was quite some time ago though.

I'm assuming I have it all taken care of now - Teksavvy sent me the new 25 Mbit modem in the mail late last week and are scheduled to start service this Friday. With Bell, it seems you have to keep calling until you get someone competent. They were willing to cancel my service last week, but Teksavvy needed a week to schedule their appointment.
