Does anyone know whether or not the Ethernet port on the back of the 6141 is active or if Bell has plans to activate it?

Any ideas?
Figured out the problem..I think. I got another external drive and it worked. I'm thinking my problem is with the case I have my other hard drive in. It was a case that has a card reader and usb ports on it. Possibly the receiver seen that as extra hard drives.

Default Strange 6141 PVR Timer Issue

I have a 6141 with an external drive hooked to it. Every single ongoing pvr timer I have set works great, records the show when its suppose to, and for how long... EXCEPT for WWE Raw And WWE Smackdown for some strange reason. I can set the timer to record (ie NEW EPS) the timer shows its there, and that its gonna record (no circle with a / through it), but come the day its on, the timer just disappears. If I set it to record ALL eps, same thing, timer remains til the day its on, then GONE. Set it for ONE TIME ONLY, same thing. The ONLY time it works is if I set the timer within a 24-36 hr time frame. Anything much longer than that, and it disappears day off. But its ONLY doing it for those 2 shows. Ive reset the receiver, same thing.

I seem to have the same problem when setting RAW to program. I always get a confilict on it, but I can set another timer during the same time RAW airs and that one records fine. (shrug)

Unhappy Guide and Menu display issues at 720p+

I'm running into an issue with my parents' 6141 and a Panasonic 1080p plasma display where at anything higher than 480i on the receiver the menus and program guide extend way past the screen edges and are scaled even with the tv set to "just scan". Is this a known issue? Any way to fix this?

Make sure that you have not stretched the image with the * button on the STB remote. Cycle it until it says "normal" or something like that. If that's not it, make sure you haven't invoked a stretch mode on the TV and reboot the STB.

Here's a post useful for those new to this - FAQs (on stretch modes & black bars for example), Search Tips, Optimization, etc:

Thanks. Both were set to Normal, but I cycled through all combinations and it turns out that the tv's just scan mode doesn't play nice with this Stb. Was able to go back up to 1080i with Normal/Normal and he tv set to FULL.

Thanks for the feedback. Since BTV changes all channels to 720P, you may wish to use 720P to eliminate one additional conversion step. Full is probably a better setting on the TV when using a STB since a number of channels have "VBI-like" information (white bars flashing, etc) showing across the top of the screen if you use the 0% overscan mode on the TV. This typically happens on 4:3 upconverts, although I've also seen it on some HD. Both of these issues are discussed in the FAQs if you want more info.

Default IR repeater for 6141?

Hello,

I did a search and was unable to find anything besides the UHF remote upgrade kit as an option, which won't really work for my application.

Does anyone know of an IR repeater system that works with the 6141 remote as-is?

Since all you're doing is repeating IR signals, any functional IR repeater should work.

Thanks 57, but apparently some don't? (Ultra U12-41498 IR Repeater)

Any ideas on why not and is anyone using one in their home setup that works well and they would recommend?

Default 6141 menu system has changed to black

Suddenly last week the menu system on my 6141 has gone to all black tones with tiny print. Is this a new menu or is something wrong? Can I revert back to what it was before, it was much easier to see.

Your post was moved to this existing 6141 thread. Does the following link help? I don't believe you can "roll back", but someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
