My TiVo Premiere was upgraded last night. The firmware version was 14.6 and it's now 14.7. I haven't noticed any difference in menus or speed. I'll keep my eye on it though and will reply should I discover something new.

Rumor is that version 14.7 was internal hooks for the Ipad apps coming at the end of the month. Is it going to be available on Itunes Canada? I don't have much hope

Oh that would be nice, but you're right. TiVo doesn't seem to want to do business in Canada.

Tivo has released the Ipad apps for controlling the Premiere.
Naturally the Apps is only available on the US Itunes store, however, it works in Canada. The apps is pretty amazing and very well designed. It facilitates to search, manage and control the Premiere using the Ipad. One thing though, it works much better when the Ipad's bluetooth is off |

TiVo angers me with their US only offerings, yet many Canadians have TiVos.
Not sure why this company continues to shoot themselves in the foot. Do they not realize there are 35 million people in Canada? It's not a small market. I know, I know, the cable companies don't want them. We now have OTA, and it's going to explode within the next 8 months. My machine rebooted today, so I thought there was another firmware upgrade, but I'm still on 14.7. They must have did something overnight. |

Your reboot was to install the version 14.7 to replace version 14.7RC (release candidate). basically, should not have been any difference between the 2.
I agree in regards to Tivo's policy toward Canadian market. I think that their numbers of Canadians using Tivo is too small to really matters and not cost effective to provide support without any support from a major cable or satellite provider. I have to say that they follow to the end their policy of no support for the Premiere by not providing the Ipad apps to Canadians. However, they support the OTA and offers the digital channel guide. Quite a plus in my book. I still consider Tivo one of the best, all around, PVR out there. |

I'm wondering if anyone can help clarify:
I have a Series2 TiVo that I'm using with Shaw Direct currently (an HD receiver, but only used as SD via the s-video input/outputs). I would like to get a TiVo Premiere to take advantage of the extra features such as the newer menu and iPad/iPhone remote control. As I'm currently not watching in HD, I'm not concerned with that working. Before I just go ahead an buy one to find out - is there any way this is going to work for me? |

The antenna input does work with OTA and will receive local HD/SD channels available to you. The iPad app is pretty nice for managing the content. Hopefully they will keep enhancing it's capabilities. |

More than that, none of the HD model TiVos support using a box. A Series 2 is the best you are going to get if you need a box to receive a TV service.

Yes, it is StarChoice that I'm using and the OTA options in Peterborough are very limited so it looks like I'm out of luck.
Thanks for the responses anyway everyone! |

I got my (Rogers analogue to digital) letter today. I'm a TiVo user and I don't want to give it up.
Has anyone been able to change channels on a Rogers digital adapter (DTA50) or a standard definition set top box (E940) using the IR cable (blaster) that comes with the TiVo Series 2? If so, I'll bite the bullet and order an adapter. Otherwise, it seems safe to ignore the letter and do nothing. I'm on basic analogue service so all that all I will lose is three channels that I never watch anyway. Last edited by 57; 2012-04-26 at 02:45 PM. Reason: Moved, Added "Rogers Letter". |

It works!
The DTA50 uses code 10014, which is in the TiVo IR database for Scientific Atlanta. |
