WIND to introduce new plans March 1st - Canadian TV, Computing and Home Theatre Forums

The previous 3 plans have been reduced to 2.

The new plans:

WIND25:
- Unlimited Calling (Canada-wide, local and WIND-to-WIND)
- Unlimited Text & Picture Message (No US)
- Call Control (Call ID, Call Forwarding, Conference Calling, Missed Call Alerts)
- 100MB data is included
- WINDTab limit increases to $200
- No Voicemail

WIND40:
- Unlimited data
- Unlimited Calling (Canada-wide, local and WIND-to-WIND)
- Unlimited Text & Picture Message (No US or International texts)
- Call Control (Call ID, Call Forwarding, Conference Calling, Missed Call Alerts)
- WINDTab limit increases to $500
- No Voicemail

In addition, here’s the structure of the new add-ons:
- Voicemail plus is $8/month, includes ability to store 50 messages
- Unlimited US calling and text messaging is $10/month
- World Saver Talk and text: $8/month
- Preferred US Roaming rates: $5/month ($0.15/min, $0.05/text, $0.50/MB)
- Premium Data: 10GB full speed vs. 5GB without

They've also reduced the roaming charges to 20 cents/min talk and $1/MB data.

Official coverage has also recently come to Barrie, with towers now up in Victoria, Kingston, and Peterborough, and construction beginning in Winnipeg.

That Wind40 deal looks pretty good compared to what I'm paying on Rogers! How does it work outside the network? My Rogers contract is up and debating wether to switch to Wind or not, I am in London, ON, so what happens if I goto St.Thomas or Gran Bend where shows no coverage on their map?

You would be roaming outside of their coverage, and you would need to pay the pay-per-use roaming rates.

Which is only $0.25/minute and it doesn't matter if you are in Canada or the US.

The killer is data - if you use roaming data, you'll get a bill to make you cry

(go prepaid if you plan to do so)

You can turn data off when roaming on any decent smartphone, hence you don't need to worry about extra roaming charges. Incoming text is free when roaming as well, only pay if you make a call or send a text when roaming.

I've been with them since last fall and extremely happy. Bundled with wife and saved another $5 on 2nd phone. $75 for two smartphones a month with unlimited data and calling across canada can't be beat.

Nice to know wind is expanding there coverage. Too bad for me, I live at the pickering/toronto border and no improvement in my coverage for their inception. Looks like its time for me to switch to another provider.
