Yes everything was hooked up properly, mast was level and plumb.
obviously had it aimed and set close to right because I tried another newer lnbf again off a friends dish put it on mine and got 53% signal in the same spot same direction now its flipping from 99 - 100% on transponder 13 on 91.
Whats the chances of getting 3 bad lnbfs? even if they are really old lol
Anyway thanks for the help guys

Hello all I am a total newbie to this stuff but I have a question regarding the aiming of my dish. On the net I found that I should be grabbing the 91 signal for hi def which they say is in the 90 degree range but bell literature says grab the 82 at 208 degrees. Living in huntsville ontario where should I be aiming for a 9200 receiver?

You need the bird at 82 degrees for HD.

If you're hitting either 91 on the left hand slot or 82 on the right hand slot of the y you should be hitting the other by default given that your skew is right.

Default Can You Get High Def with Single LBNF Dish

I've got the HD TV and the HD receiver authorized but my son forgot to bring the dual LBNF 20" Dish with him and we just have our 18" dish with the single LBNF

All we ever watch is High Def - Can I readjust the 18" dish to find the HD Satellite and run the signal through the HD Receiver?

He won't be back for 6 weeks so I was hoping I could improvise in the meantime.

Is it possible? If so, any tips on what adjustments are needed to find SAT 2

Yes you can point at 82 only with your 18 and get HD channels but of course no SD channels, if thats good for you then go ahead and do it, only issue I an think of is possibly not getting guide updates as they are strictly on 91 I believe. (Someone chime in and confirm updates and guide are on Transponder 13 on 91, or is it both) either way everything would work minus that possibly. If you find 91 your not far off from finding 82 when you aim the dish, good luck!

Hi bbaker, I think I read somewhere that you can get updates through sat 82.

But I thought you needed the 20" dish in order to get HD as this dish has the swivel that allows to tilt the dish. But I can be wrong.don't know much myself. Pinza or joelouie know this stuff inside out.

If you don't have 91, you won't get any guide updates and I know that the PVR record functions won't work on a 6131. Your guide will show about 2 hours ahead though. Otherwise you're good to go.

Thanks guys, it certainly appears to be doable based upon your responses.

I'll check back in after the revisions.

I can't give a definite answer on if you'll get the guide with only 82 or not (too lazy to go outside and check with my dish lol), but it will definitely work pointed only at 82. You need a 20" dish if you want it pointed at 91 AND 82, but if you're fine without you SD for now just point it slightly to the left and up a bit and you should be hitting 82.

Default Found 82, no 91

Hello!

I am trying to install a satellite to run a 9241 reciever, but I am running into a few problems. Whether it is is ignorance in techniques used in installations or hardware issuses, I am not sure.

To start:
I am located just north of Huntsville Ontario. I having been trying to install the satllite for a while now and have run into a lot of problems. Today I was finally able to at least make a connection to one of the satellites- at times a 100% connection to 82, but no connection to 91. This leads me to believe that the LNBF is pointing to the wrong satellite altogether.

I know that the usual response is to aim for 91 and 82 will come, but I am having an EXTREMELY hard time picking up any singal at all. So I am nervous to lose what progress I have now.

After this I tried to replace the two seperate LNBFs with a DPP quad LNBF to ensure I was using the newest equipment- no signal.

So I guess my two questions are:
How do I go from making a great connection on 82 to connecting to 91 at all?
Would there be any change in the aiming process from using a DPP quad and two seperate LNBFs?

after changing to the dpp you would have to do a "check switch" in order for the receiver to show signal.
is your dish skewed properly? are you receiving 82 on the correct lnb? if not that would explain your problem...let us know and we'll be able to tell you where what direction to move your dish to lock both.

Did you try different transponders? I am not sure which ones are not working currently, if any, but I have been stung in the past by aiming and using a transponder that was not on.

Default Re-aiming Bell Dish After Shingling Job

I'm about to get my house roof re shingled and contacted BellExpress Vu who said they could schedule an Installer to re calibrate the Dish the day after the shingles are done for a $75.00 charge. Now the Roofer has agreed to remount the Dish once the job is done. I have a ladder to climb the roof, but one of my knees requires surgery. Is there an easy way to re-aim & set up the Bell Dish possibly with the Roofer?
