Question regarding the HD "Local" channels....

Why is it that the HD local channels are not available to be viewed on TV2?
I realize that they are High Def but....
The other HD channels that Bell offers come through just fine.

They should be available. In dual mode, locks and favorites are independent on each output. Are the channels locked out or not on the active favorites list?

I am using the channel locks feature to cut unwanted channels from my guide. However it does not seem to allow me to block 271, the preview channel. Is that true for everyone?

Why are you using the Channels Locks feature? You should be using the Favourites Lists. Just create a Favourites List of the channels you want and use it instead of the pre-made lists.

jdevlin, I noticed that when 271 first arrived, and I mentioned it to pinza. I don't know why but it appears it cannot be locked out on the 9242.

Gino Cerullo, I lock out all the channels I don't want to see, PPV, etc, and then "Hide Them". I find it works better than favourites, and then I use the favourites for packaging channels for certain family members. The "Out of sight, out of mind" works well to keeping people from asking; "why don't get this show or channel?" Thus saving money and hearing "but why?"

If you go into the diagnostics of the 9242, then hit counters, it will tell you (scroll down using page down) mapped or available program channels and visible channels. In my case I see only one third of the channels that are available to me which really reduces the channels to go through.

I do have a favorites list but it was explained on here that if you use the locks then when channels go on free preview or new channels are added you will see them in the guide if they are not locked out.

I have not been able to block this on any receiver. My guess is something to do with the fact that this channel is in the clear, ie; visible on a receiver NOT yet activated, so is in effect an FTA Channel, just my guess.

I assume it is always visible as an it is an "advert" channel from BELL
trying to get more $ from subscribers...

Default Bell PVR 9242 problem..

This is my first post, and I am hoping someone can help.

The box is hooked up to 2 T.V.'s and the main T.V. in the living room is run thru the Control 4 system. I have had the 9242 for almost 3 years with no hiccups.

As of a few days ago I noticed that whatever station is on in the living room is the same station that is on in the bedroom. I dont have the ability to switch stations in the bedroom or have any controls with the Bell remote control.

On the front of the box the orange button is illuminated where it has a pic of 2 T.V's. I also have a green button thats illuminated on the TV1, and a blue button thats illuminated on TV2.

Is my PVR tuner shot, and not capable to working anymore?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Default 9242 acting up

This morning my 9242 (I have 2 and the other is ok) started reving up the fan and the chanel 1 green light will flash on and off. I tried unplugging for an hour and it started up for a few minutes - gave me a picture but no guide, then started reving up the fan and green light flashing and lost the picture.
It can't be reset from the front power button and all cables are connected.
Any suggestions? Hard drive?
Thanks.

Do you rent or own the 9242?

With the fan revving up, could it be overheating?

My 9242 (refurbished replacement for a 9200 during the MPEG4 exchange) has recently started running the fan frequently and sometimes quite loudly (I assume it's the fan and not the hard drive spinning) and the unit is quite warm, even after it has only been on standby overnight. Only a hard reboot will stop it. Is this a sign of problems to come?
