Yes this is Hepburn's 70 foot tower. He's got a new rig setup, that logs all automatically, any new Digital TV stations that it can pickup... see here: http://dxinfocentre.com/hepburn/logs/dxtv.htm |

If I remember correctly there is a small shack at the base of the tower. Is that also Hepburn's? Also to all the locals who know the area this tower is located behind the 1st North Grimsby Scout hut and beside Beamer Falls.

Not accoding to the Google Street view. The tower has one lone vertical 6 bay or so folded dipole at the top, and a couple microwave antenna lower down on the sides. Then again, that was probably taken 2008/2009

Maybe that's a relay tower for the fire department?
And it looks like Hepburn's tower is near some big trees. I'm surprised it does so good. |

re: Rogers Tower, Winnipeg;
Always wondered why they built that tower down in the flood plain so close to the floodway gates? Was thinking a few months ago CBC could rent the top for their UHF TV antenna rather than installing it downtown. The extra 200ft would give a bit more range. Oh well... -C.

Cham re:rogers tower.
My understanding as to why they moved to the floodway is connected to when CITI 92.1 cut its power from 360kw to 160kw and finally to 100kw(their current power). With the lower(relatively because 100kw is still a lot of wattage) power output they needed to move their antenna closer to the city to maintain urban signal quality. To bad CTV didn't relocate their dtv antenna to this tower and improve their signal in Winnipeg. |

A bit OT, but I thought you might like to see it - a disguised Cell Tower:
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/right...191850098.html I believe Rogers had something similar a few years back, but I don't have a link for that...

So, WBBZ is mounted on an old microwave relay tower for long-distance telephone circuits.

If those microwave horns are now dead it would probably benefit WBBZ's signal propagation if someone with a grinder and a sky hook could top that tower!
