Last year we got the weekday evening games on Y101. Have not heard anything about this year. The Jays updated their alliliate list last week and no ottawa stations are to be found.
With Jays renewed interest in this area(Caravan, talk of a BlueJays AA team), it would be counterproductive to not have an affiliate here. Anyone heard anything about this coming year. Seems that all the current affiliates are Rogers owned stations, so that would indicate Team 1200 is out. Although they seem to prefer talking about the Sens goalie situation all summer long anyways.?!?! I am hoping News1310 will pick up the games, I can't imagine their current audience if too big during the evening. |

Probably not 1310. It's important that as they establish the station that they never break format.
Airing them on Y101 last year caused them trouble with the musical selections they could air during the day (complicated CRTC BS.) Probably not worth it to do that again. Don't count TEAM1200 out. If Rogers doesn't want it for their own properties, they'll offer it around. |

They definitely shop the rights around. Astral in London, Blackburn in Sarnia, Corus in Hamilton, Bell in Vancouver and Montreal, for example.

One Possiblility might be Jack FM out of Smitth Falls. The signal reaches Ottawa.
I'm not sure but someone told me that CHEZ 106 Y101 CISS FM News10 Jack FM where all broadcasting out of one building on ST Laurant BLD(near Concory) |

92.3 JACK-FM would make sense.

990AM Montreal should be receivable in Ottawa, right?
Odd that no radio stations appear for Ottawa for the nation's only MLB team.

It's not exactly a ratings winner.

Well it looks like the games will be on Team 1200. Hopefully they will have more than just the weekday night game.

Assuming the Team 1200 does pick up the Blue Jays games the advantage then goes to the Blue Jays depending on if there a conflict with the Blue Jays and another sporting event the Team 1200 has contractor issues with the can easily put the game(Blue Jays) on CFRA like they do with Sens /67's games.
And considering that partnership Rogers Communications & Bell Media did in Toronto(some sporting thing can't recall what it is), as well Ottawa "appears" to be getting the Blue Jays Double AA baseball team "If rummors" are to be believed. Also considering the Team 1200 is the only "Sports station in Ottawa. Its not Ottawa can support more then one Sports Station? |

Team 1200 announced today that they will be broadcasting Jays games in Ottawa. They are making it seem like they will air all games as long as they conflict with Sens/67's games

If there's a conflict they can always use CFRA like they do with the Sens/67 games provided that if the Jays are playing the same night, then 67's & Sens, then they drop the Jays for the 67's(CFRA) Sens(Team 1200).

This is great news. Although the reception really drops off after 5pm.

A few weeks ago I heard that CFRA is planning to make an appeal to the CRTC to let CRFA run at night with slightly more transmitter power. Apparently the other stations that were at or near 580 KHz have moved or shut down, so the old interference issue isn't a problem any more. The power boost would make a big difference to coverage outside the city at night.
I'm not sure of the details, though. |
