The sad part is that BDU providers could serve all their customers with one signal per channel. Use only the HD version, and have a digital box with 3 outputs...
  • HDMI output for newer TV's
  • composite ouput for older TV's
  • RF output for ancient TV's
No need for separate SD and HD signals. If a channel is only available in SD, then that would be the one getting carried.
