Well I read elsewhere that HGTV HD was coming to Bell in a month or two, I forget the exact date, so hopefully that's true and Shaw will add more HD. It only makes sense I would think, as it means more revenue, does it not? Especially with everyone so hungry for more HD.
On another note, i'm glad Leonard Asper didn't get another chance as he's already had one and he buried that company so far in debt and proved he didn't know what he was doing, even if he wasn't going to be entirely in charge again, he would still be involved. Hopefully Shaw does some good things and gives us more HD and what not, although it seems they might be shutting down Fox Sports World already, anyone know what's up with that? |

I support this takeover, if only that I have higher hopes that under Shaw Management the Global/Canwest properties will improve. It seemed that the previous management was in harvest mode.

I'm hoping that Global Maritimes will return to Shaw Direct!

How bad can Global/Canwest management be if you consider Shaw ownership to be an improvement?

This probably old news for everybody, but I see a couple of days ago the CRTC approved Shaw's purchase of Canwest (Global TV). As part of Shaw's purchase here's a qoute from the agreement:
As part of the CRTC approval, Shaw will spend $180.1 million over the next seven years to transition 67 analog transmitters in smaller markets to digital; provide and install a satellite receiver and dish at no charge to viewers who lose access to the over-the-air signals; produce new two-hour morning shows in Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Montreal and Halifax; buy more programming from independent producers and invest in new media content that will support news programming and programs of national interest. I wonder if the promised Toronto morning show will ever make it to air.
