Just call 1 888 sky dish.

Cost is $6 per month, max of 2 claims per year, covers just about everything 'except' the Dish, unless I misunderstood the CSR.....lol

When I called and had it added, she looked at the receivers on my account, 4 x HD Dual Tuners (9200's & 9242's) and a 5200, she said that I had done the right thing as the 9200 is no longer available and would be replaced by a 9242 "IF" they ever failed.

So far, sadly they are both fine but who knows for how much longer.....lol

Unless it has changed the SW44 switch isn't covered by Dish Care either.

I too had heard that in the past but I specifically asked about it, as technically I "must" have 3 of them for my 10 Tuners and was told yes, they are covered, along with the power inserters.

Now I would agree with you, that I do not think they are but that was her answer to me, so I guess it might have changed.

As we all know, ask two different CSR's the same question, the chances are you will get two answers.....

I also had a friend send in my old 9200 that I sold him 3 years ago and he received a 9242. Also Dish care covers receivers, switches, lnbs and remotes.

Default 9200 upgrade

Question, my parents have a 6 yr old 9200, they own it. They are upgrading their TV from a 720p LCD to a 3D. Since the 9200 will not be capable what are their options. I would think Bell shares some of the responsibility here. If they threaten to cancel their account any chance of getting a free upgrade or at least a significant discount on a new 9241 ? $499 for a new one seems unlikely.

Not capable of what? The 9200 will work fine with the new TV.

It will also work with 3D but Bell have decided to not allow this feature as they will soon begin swapping out all MPEG2 HD receivers, the 9200 and 6100's. I would just wait and later this year you should be offered a nice shiny new (OK it could be a refurb) 9242/9241 for your 9200.

As Bell do not transmit anything in 1080i, I would not be in a hurry anyway, you will most likely not notice any difference.

Bell will be doing receiver swaps (9200 to 9242) in the next year. No need to do anything until then.

So from what I'm reading I should not do anything right now and don't bother signing up for Dishcare.

Dishcare is another thing entirely, it is an insurance policy that will give you peace of mind if you ever have issues in the future. At $6 per month, I consider it good value for money but then I have several Dual Tuner Receivers, so the replacement cost would be very high.
