Good news for Shaw phone customers needing to get in touch with loved ones in Japan. They are dropping ld charges temporarily to Japan to help out. Here is hoping that some cell providers decide that this might just be a good idea for now.

I have a very close friend in a prefecture that was effected by the earth quake. I am a little bit concerned about him as he works north of Tokyo and does a ton of commuting. Best for me to wait so that he and millions of others can communicate to those even more important though...so I will give it some time before I try to phone him and his family.

I am sitting here remembering all the great times we had fishing for brown trout on the Cowichan River and praying that he and his family is all ok. His home and book store is outside Tokyo and fairly close to the really bad areas.
