External Hard Drive Compatibility V2

I went throught a lot of posts on this problem but found few answers. At one point I thought LaCie was the ticket....

The hard drive manufacturer, for a raw drive, is irrelevant, it’s the enclose that’s causing the problem.

I propose collecting data and establishing a compatibility matrix. Might be hard to get info from those who've moved on.
Make it ‘plug and play’ for new folk
Do people care about this problem?

I posted ‘Post #290 – ‘External Hard Drive Problems & Distribution’ but nobody responded.
Just take them back to Future Shop?
Got to be easier.
