Reliability issues tend to be with the connectors, not the cable. You can get junk connectors or decent quality. It is also possible to buy over priced "gold plated" connectors. BTW, the best connectors are silver plated, not gold. Gold looks better because it doesn't tarnish, but silver maintains a better connection even through a bit of oxidation.
