Default H Card shutdown has begun.

H card user's channels have begun to drop off. I understand the full shutdown will take a couple of days.

Does this include H cards being used in a computer? A friend of mine has that.

Are they all dead now or just dying? Any official confirmation from DirecTV that they're shutting it down?

My dad's in for a surprise when he gets back from vacation

yeah they are dead a dealer i know says that they sent down a malicious stream that is eating away at the chip inside the receiver and that hundreds of his customers are comming to get it reprogrammed!!! thats why it took me hours to get a hold of him!!! Anyone with a pirated DirecTV dish should switch! to expressvu or to dishnetwork, can anyone tell me if this has effected both DTV and DN?

"eating away at the chip inside the receiver"? That's different.

No, what's happening is that DirecTV did/is doing a card swap. Any legitimate subscribers should have received a new P4 card. They're now shutting down the H datastream, and the HU should follow at some point. It's not a matter of it being an ECM - they're just shutting down the data that an H card can decode.

Probably your dealer wants to get people in so he can foist some re-programming off on them that won't work for any length of time, but he can squeeze some extra money out before the jig is up.

I don't know about Dish Network. I'm not up on hacking techniques, nor is this the right forum to discuss it.
