So I read over the FAQs again. To ponder more specifically, the upconverting ability of the PS3 is what is in question. I wonder if anyone has had any experience with this? Some background information: games are made in default resolutions. Some games like the Blu-Ray of Final Fantasy XIII are made in 720P but with cutscenes in 1080P. 57 would you consider the PS3 to be equivalent to a STB in upscaling? I wonder if upscaling can have any kind of performance hit on the PS3?

I would rank the upconversion in the PS3 to be very good - better than most STBs. For your 1080i TV, I'd suggest selecting 1080i for the output of the PS3. For 720P games, you could give 720P a try, but I doubt it's worth the effort to switch back & forth.
