There r a variety of different packages for the ITV button (Channel 275), this channel/button only works if u have subscribed to at least one ITV package.

I am subscribed to iweather and it works fine on my two 3100's but on my new 6100 the channel does not even show up in the guide.

The 6100 along with Dishnetwork 811 are still expecting the OpenTV software to be downloaded as well as the search function.

Got my 6100 up and running... works like a charm.
I LOVE the new menu and no audio problems. |

No audio problems wish I could say that.
I had some other optical cables around, however they did not work. To make matters worse the plastic around the opticial connector just broke away. Very brittle plastic, the cable stays in and do I get sound at least. Well I asked them to send me a replacement unit. Since I destroyed the optical connector there is no warranty. Going to cost me $100 plus shipping since I caused the damage. I guess it is not designed to have a cable plugged in and out several times. Although I am not sure why the plastic is so brittle. Maybe the next one wil work without any audio issues. Overall I like the 6100 expect for some bugs. The worst is the toslink bug. I also can not get it to work with my VCR. I do a test, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not work. Overall setting a timer does nothing at all. With my 6000 no problems at all. Also I find the OTA to be far worse than using the 8PSK module in the 6000. I read on another forum again this is a bug with this receiver including the famous 49% bug. I guess it is just my luck that I have a 6100/811 receiver with every bug that has been identified already by Dish owners. I hope the replacement receiver is bug free. |

As for the audio, set it to Dolby Digital/PCM and then perform a receiver reset and that cures it. There also exists a bug that pops up when leaving your OTA channels and bringing up the guide causing audio loss. This also requires a receiver reboot. I will tell you what I tell everyone else, if ya think you have problems with the 6100 take a trip over to the Starchoice forum and see all the nightmare threads about the DSR500. The 6100 is a very stable receiver in my opinion much more so than the 6000 was in it's inception. The problems that exist are minor and will be worked out. SatGuru [/quote][/i] |

Yes hopefully software updates will work out the bugs.
I have attempted to do a reset as you mentioned without any luck at all. Still the same audio issue. My audio receiver is in Auto mode and it works fine in digital mode with my DVD. I have more than one optical port on the receiver and swtiching them around made no difference. I have as I mentioned which led me to damaging the optical connection several different cables. Still no audio when I set it to Dolby Digital. I have unplugged the unit for several hours, did a factory reset. Not much left to do except replace the unit. Although as you mentioned that may not solve the issue. |

Do you use the OTA functionality of the 6100? I am also in Milton and wondered how it was working? I currently use a Samsung T151 for OTA reception, but am thinking of buying a 6100 for both satellite and OTA reception. Cheers, Ian |

Forgive me, but, what is the benefit of OTA? When I think of OTA I think of bunny ears and trying to tune in a channel that looks very fuzzy and sometimes won't even come in colour. :-?

Can someone please tell me if you need to subscribe to Bell to get OTA with the 6120? I remember reading that this was the case when you are south of the border, though I don't remember if it was with Direct TV or Dish Network... I'm curious because I would like to factor in the OTA capability vs. this receiver's price should I decide to upgrade... Thanks!

The 6100 8VSB tuner is for tuning in analog as well as HD OTA stations. See my review of the Winegard Square Shooter antenna in the High Definition forum as to what digital HD/SD channels I receive. http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/for...ic.php?t=15925 SatGuru |
