My 2 cents.
Overall BD sales (# of units) will never equal the sales of DVDs. We'll be into digital downloads before it gets a chance. Remember it will be much easier/cheaper for studios to re-master their old titles in digital format compared to BD. I'm sure they basically have it stored that way already. When we see this catch on, you'll see their catalogs become huge in a hurry.
I don't have anything against BD, although I'm surprised it beat HD-DVD as a more expensive format overall. I just think it came a little too late to catch on. With upconverting players, and even playing DVDs in a BD player, there isn't a huge compelling reason to buy BD media for a lot of average consumers out there.
