Hi,
Since getting Rogers Digital Cable, I've been having some strange volume issues. I'm going to start with the one that can be easily reproduced and hopefully, that will also fix the intermittent issues. Apologies if this was answered already, but I couldn't find a post about it when I searched. I have the Motorola STB from Rogers (HD, no PVR) and an LG LCD TV. I'm using the remote that came with the STB, but it can be reproduced using both the Harmony 670 and 700. The issue is: I hold the volume button for a second (allowing the volume to go up/down by several points), then I press the page up or page down button and the volume continues to change. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. |

It could be the IR interference issue discussed in the following post:
http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=64463 You may wish to programme the remote to control the TV volume instead of the STB volume, as discussed in the following post - it's for SA but the gist should apply to any remote that can be programmed in this way: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show...693#post429693 As you have time, check out the following useful post: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=57741 |

Thanks for the links. I tested some things and still have the issue.
I have the remote configured to control the volume on the TV and not the STB and have the Audio settings on the STB set to "Fixed". This is how I understood one of the other posts, I think its correct. I ruled out interference from the TV since it still happens with the TV off. I'll explain since it might be useful: I have a Yamaha receiver as well and it experiences the same issue. When I use just the TV and STB (without the AVR), I get the issue as I described. When I use the TV, STB, and AVR, I configure the Harmony remote to control the volume on the AVR. As above, when I hold the volume button then press the page up/down button, the volume on the AVR continues to change. Hopefully that makes sense. |

Sounds like the pageup/down command IR signal may be similar/identical to the volume command. This is not unheard of - there was a recent thread regarding a Sharp TV with similar issues... But it's weird that it does it on two different devices... You may wish to contact Harmony - they are usually pretty helpful and their database may have a resolution (or not).
Found the other thread: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=115643 Since you've tried several remotes, I doubt the remote itself is to blame. Do you have CFLs in the room? If you do, turn them off. |

this problem happens on my 10+ year old GE Standard Definition TV set too, and I've duplicated the problem enogh times and trouble shooted it enough times to rule out that it is a TV Malfrunction that is causing this, not a remote. I can confirm when i press volume up on the Rogers remote, the light emits to indicate a volume up signal to the TV, but the light turns off and then the TV's volume still increases due to a glitch in the internal electronics that does not know the command has stopped. this happens even when i use the OEM GE remote, and NOT just the rogers one.

Try cleaning the IR receiver on the STB. Fixed issues I had like that..
