Hi,
I am new to this, and looking for some help on the issue. I have bought a new KP53HS30 - Sony 53" Fullscreen about 6/7 months ago from Futureshop. My wife's viewing pattern pertains to watching a particular channel a lot, and this channel gives their logo on the bottom-right corner part of the screen. Over the persiod, I am finding that it is forming a yellow-ish stain at that corner in the exact same shape. When I watching some other channels, the mark can be seen. Though it is not very highly visible, but it is not hidden either. I am concerned, and wondering, how it can he handled. Would Calibration help? Or is it a defect? I do have extended warranty - but its a hassle to go through with everything else involved. Any help/quidance will be appreciated. Thanks! |

You have "burn in" and it's irreversible. You need to live with it and try to prevent it as much as possible in the future by varying your viewing and doing a proper setup on the TV.
Read the HT FAQ - "What you need to do to your new HDTV". http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/for...forum.php?f=57 This is not covered under warranty and the operating manual usually warns against having any "static" image on your TV for more than about 15-20% of the time.

Yes, it's sad but true, you have "burn-in" or uneven CRT phosphor wear. Your only hope is that the logo fades as your set ages over the years, but it will never happen if your wife continues to watch that channel.
