A minor firmware update (V2.52) is coming to the PS3 soon and includes the following:

It's been out for a few days now. It was slow to download directly for many. I have been updating by going directly to the Sony site and loading onto an SD card for the past few, and find it much faster.

A lot of people seem to complain about the download speeds from the Playstation Store or when updating. I haven't seen any of these problems. Just lucky I guess.

It's also convenient to start the update and select to shut down the PS3 afterwards. Do it at night.

To be honest, I think the issue is the Wireless chipset in the PS3 sucks, cause I've moved to wired and there's a big difference in speeds now. I have my wireless router in the same room as the PS3, so it's not a factor of bad signal or anything, it's just the PS3's wireless stinks.

Yes, an N router will work with the PS3, but it won't be any faster since the PS3 doesn't do N.

Mine is a 60 as well, and I didn't notice a difference between wireless and wired. Didn't perform any monitored testing, however...

I use mine wireless and the only problem I sometimes run into with Tversity is I can't FF at 10X or more reliably. I watch several shows streamed in HD.
Pretty sure I have a cable in the wall I can dig out but I can't be bothered unless the wireless craps out on me. |
