This morning my 2700 wouldn't do anything but "acquire satelite signal". So I called Bell and we danced around trying ti fix it. I was told to turn it off and wait 3 hours. After three hours I tried again anf nuthin. We danced around again and finally they are going to send me another receiver.
What I think is really weird is that this morning my receiver card # was an actual # but when I turned the receiver on after the 3 hours the card # turned to Zero's. Did Bell fry my 2700??? firetruk |

firetruk,
In the sysinfo screen is your Location ID 0000000001 or 000000000 ? If so you got zapped if not call them back and ask them to remarry your card to your receiver. Be warned that this activity to them pegs you a thief and you are hard pressed to prove them wrong in their eyes. Kryspy |

My location # is the same as it was before some numbers and letters. It is not all zeros but my card # is.
They already tried to remarry the card. They are sending a new receiver, so I doubt they think I was a stealin'. I do believe that they zapped it by mistake though. firetruk |

I received my new receiver a few days after posting the original message. The letter stated that I will be paying $99.00 for the used 2700 they sent me. Great, Why didn't they tell me that before. I would have said NO!! I have a 3100 as my main receiver.
Anyway, I called CS and they said don't worry. Yeah right, I received my bill today, Guess What?? Yup, a $99.00 charge for the damn 2700. I am going to the store I bought the original one from in July, BEV says my 2700 was out of warranty. Some warranty 5 months!! I still think they f'd my receiver. f |

If your location ID was not altered, then it is definitely an error on their part. Demand a no charge replacement.

Things do break because of other reasons too. As far as your warrenty, if it was a refurbished 2700 it had a 90 day warrenty which you would have read in your manual.

As far as I know, it wasn't a re-furbished 2700 that I originally bought. That is why I am takin it up with the store. What would go wrong with the 2700? It seemed to work fine then it didn't lock onto signal or whatever. I still think they f'd it. I could get a channel, or it would say acquiring signal.
BEV tried a few things and told me to send it back, with no indication it would cost me. I'm sending the one they sent me back anyway. |

firetruk,
Based on the timeframe that you purchased your 2700; it is indeed a refurbished unit. The 2700 hasn't been new on the shelf for quite some time now. It would have only had a 90 day warranty like Jay2121 said. I would not pay $99 for another refurbed 2700. THat receiver is fixable, Bell is just too lazy to be able to solve it over the phone. One quick question, did you run a different receiver into the line that the 2700 was hooked up to? This would make sure that it's not a wiring/lnb/dish problem.

Kryspy,
I cannot find anywhere any indication that I was buying a refurb, so I think the store owes me on that one. jay2121, I hooked the 2700 up where my 3100 is connected and it still had problems, the "new" 2700 works fine where the old 2700 was connected. Called this AM and BEV won't take back the 2700 they sent me nor will they send me back my old one. I told them I wasn't paying the 99 bucks and that I was returning the 2700. They said I had to pay or the service will be shut off. Well....... Thanks for the replys, I can see a BBB file on this one. f |

Firetruk,
The box that the old 2700 came in will have the word :refurbished" on it. Also on the back of the receiver the white seal with the R0# and such will most likely but not always look like one has been put over top of it. Whether you thought you were getting a refurb or not, based on the time frame you bought it the 2700 is a refurb. As a sidenote if the 2700 came packaged with the 3100 and dish as a "3130" boxed deal then I am poaitive that the 2700 is a refurb. Is it by chance a 2700A with a door over the smartcard ? Kryspy |

If it is a 2700A it would have a one year warrenty, (exchange), so find out exactly what you bought.

Just thought I would Update everyone.....
I have been hounding expressvu and the store I bought from....they were getting a little p'd off. Anyway, a Bell person called me the other day and informed me that there will be no charge and my bill will be credited. The bill arrived the other day with the credit. So they finally listened to me. Yay!! BTW the receiver was a 2700A with a door on the front, the one they replaced it with does not have a door. Do I have a refurb now and what will my warranty be?? I also still think they zapped the friggin thing. Thanks all for the help. |
