Question Best Upgrade From ViewSonic N3735w?

Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my LCD TV and I'm in need of some advice.
Currently I have a ViewSonic N3735w. It's a decent set, and I've been happy with it, but I'm looking to move up a bit.

I know a fair but about LCD technology, but I really don't know what's a good TV on the market right now.

I use my screen for my HTPC and my PS3.
I want something slightly bigger but I don't have enough space to go any larger than 42". 1080p is a must.
I'd love it if my next TV had a DVI port too.

Other than that, I'm pretty much open to suggestions. I want something that has a really good picture, especially for games and movies. My target price is $1200 or less.

Also, this might sound dumb, but it also needs to be black to match the rest of my system.

Thanks in advance!

Samsung A550 but if your hardcore gamer then the 650 with 120mhz but thats way out of price range. Even the 40inch Samsung is 1299 just barely over your price range.

If you want LCD and you want good picture quality then I recommend LCD with LED backlight. $1,200 won't do.

The A550 does look nice! It's definately on the short list...
and close enough to my target price

hugh, I'd love to get an LED backlight TV.... MAN would I ever love to buy an LED, but unfortunately that's just not going to happen this time...
Perhaps I should have said "I want the best picture I can afford"...

Any other suggestions anybody?

Thumbs up Just go to the next level Viewsonic

I went from the 37-inch to the 42-inch 1080p Viewsonic ($899.00 Costco) and have been amazed at the results. Like the 37 inch you have to play with the sub-menu (Menu 9-1-1) to get the picture looking good, but the time will be well worth it. I've got mine looking better than sets of twice the price range! I use it for ps3 games, blue-ray movies (outstanding) and general tv viewing. Hope this helps.

Do you have the 4285p or the 4290p?
How much better is it than the 3735w? Personally I'd give the picture on the 37" screen about a 6 out of 10, and I want to move up to somthing in the 8 out of 10 range...

Also, what do you mean by sub-menu? Do you mean the standard video adjustment menu?
